“Dear PoPville,
I’ve been googling and googling and can’t find it: What is this cement marker, which is along the Reservation 630 trail in Rock Creek Park near Picnic Area 2 at Pierce Mill? Read More
Adam asked: “Does anyone know what this one single brick built into an underpass on 295 at Bennington Road is all about? What is DC 104?”
We’ve seen a similar one from the south end of Barracks Row and from the Underpass at RFK. At one time Mr.TinMD told us that:
“The upper logo, with the Capitol dome, is a remnant from the B&O railroad. I think they denote B&ORR bridges or something.”
If you have a photo of a neat find from your house, place of work or neighborhood please send an email to [email protected] thanks. Please let me know where/what neighborhood you found it in too. Thanks.

“Attempting to access the Arboretum I was redirected due to a truck that was too tall to make it through the railway overpass on Bladensburg Road and got smushed. I ended up being forced onto NY Ave/Rte 50, and then Kenilworth Ave/295 South. I worked at the Atlanta Olympics so when I exited at Benning Road this logo caught my eye. 26 years after the fact, people are still being directed to RFK for Olympic soccer qualifying matches.”
Also, check out this “old super 8 footage that my grandparents shot, and here we stumbled upon their footage of a Redskins game sitting on the field at the old RFK stadium back in the 1960s.” Read More
“PoPville, I’m curious if anyone recognizes this wall. The picture is of my grandmother around 1945 when she lived in DC.” Read More

“I was renovating a closet in my Adams Morgan row house and found this jammed behind the shelf. It’s a $2.50 ticket from 1963 to a midnight party with jazz band, Bobby Felder and The Blue Notes, at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple on U (ahem, You) St.
Robert “Bobby” Felder went on to become a music professor at UDC and I found this recent interview with him on YouTube” Read More

“Perfectly preserved section of the The Sunday Star with an advertisement for Kay’s on 7th street. This was used at underlay in a kitchen pantry in Tenleytown. House was built in 1926 papers dated December 19th 1926. $50 for a diamond ring!”

“Dear PoPville,
Cleaning up my house, I found these treasures in my bowl of vintage matches. Read More
Update: OP has called 911.
“The police have come and gone. They said that it definitely was an old projectile. A specialist came and x-rayed it to see if there was anything inside the pipe, but it was empty and not live. So, thank goodness that all is well and safe! Thanks to you and everyone who commented!
Unfortunately, I don’t have any insight into how it got there, just seemingly discarded, not even buried, under the porch. I have lived here for 3 years and the prior owners would be in their 80s, but I don’t know anything about them. It could be a “souvenir” that a vet brought back (the police said they find a lot of grenades). But one cop who is about to retire after 28 years on the force said he’s never seen anything like this before!”
“Dear PoPville,
I found this thing that looks like either some kind of lawn ornament or a missile! I found it only slightly buried underneath my front porch in the Kingman Park neighborhood. I have no idea what it is! It’s fairly heavy and made of metal. One of the pics has my hand in it for scale.” Read More
