“Dear PoPville,

Going through an old box of family papers I found a notebook of my great-grandmother’s. The notebook was from M.S. Ginn & Co., 918-920 14th St. NW. The entries are notes, letters, hand-drawn maps, and genealogical information from the early 1900s. One excerpt from a letter dated July 22, 1907 reads:

“Your Uncle Horace bought his lot in Chevy Chase and Lyle and Horace each bought one beside it…He is anxious for your father to buy, also you. The lots are 6 cents a foot anywhere you select. You pay $30 cash down and $8.00 a month until lot is paid for. He says they are going fast.”

Unfortunately, as far as I know, that property is no longer in the family! 😄”
