500 H Street, NE

A couple weeks ago I feared Micho’s wasn’t coming back because no renovations had started since they closed back in November. Looks like the sea may be parting right before our very eyes – thanks to Christian for sending:

“Looks like they may actually be doing renovations…new concrete pavers on the patio & lots of new equipment in the interior”

Updates as they get closer, knock wood knock wood, to reopening.

500 H Street, NE

Micho’s Lebanese Grill has soft opened on H Street in the former Nouveau Fleur Florist space at the corner of 5th and H. The early reaction on twitter has been extremely positive – @TyGiordano‘s sentiment was expressed by many:

“The verdict: lamb/beef shawarma and Micho’s wraps = delicious! We’re definitely returning to @michosgrill soon! Welcome to the neighborhood!”

As a fellow shawarma fan – can’t wait to take a taste. Anyone else get an early bite?

On Saturday you’ll be able to see their full menu here.

Thanks to all who sent emails and tweets about this potentially great new addition coming to H Street. One reader writes:

“Just wanted to let you know there is a new Lebanese Grill opening up on the corner of 5th and H NE next to Le Grenier [former Nouveau Fleur Florist space].”

Updates as they get closer to opening.

From a press release:

“Prepare to be enchanted, intrigued, and wowed as the rich tapestry of Mexico City’s culinary heritage unfolds at Stephen Starr’s new endeavor, El Presidente. Launching at Signal House in the Union Market District, El Presidente (1255 Union St. NE) ventures beyond the scope of a typical Mexican restaurant.

Its avant-garde, neo-retro aesthetic is a direct passport to the vibrant heart of Mexico City (CDMX) itself. Every bold bite is a testament to Mexico’s regionally diverse cuisine. The sprawling menu draws flavors, ingredients and techniques from across the country, featuring innovative dishes diners will find only at El Presidente. A feast of delights include Baja-style coastal oysters garnished with savory salsa negra and citrus miñoneta, to red chile-marinated Al pastor tacos and whole roasted cauliflower with ancho-pecan pipián to pescado a la talla (whole striped bass), as well as several riffs on guacamole that begin with rich, ripe Michoacán avocados.
