“Saw this at the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden last Sunday. Turned the corner to see some people gathered around and taking pix and stumbled on this big one hunched over tearing apart something for a late day snack. He was about 18 – 20 inches high.”

From Facebook:

“Join wildlife biologist, Lindsay Rohrbaugh from the Department of Energy and Environment for a special “bat walk” to discuss local DC bats.

Find out how bats navigate the night skies, avoiding predators and catching insects on the wing. Test out electronic bat detectors that pick up the ultrasonic calls that bats emit to navigate the darkness. Come see live bats fly around Kingman and Heritage Island in NE Washington, DC.

HUGE RATS HAVE BEEN SIGHTED WITHIN OUR PETWORTH NEIGHBORHOOD. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR FERAL CAT POPULATION HAS ALSO BEEN QUICKLY AND MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARING!

AS NEW EATERIES, RESTAURANTS AND GROCERY MARKETS OPEN, THIS RAT INFESTATION PROBLEM IS RAPIDLY BECOMING A VERY SERIOUS PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN. OUR PREVIOUS FERAL CAT POPULATION KEPT THESE VERY DANGEROUS AND FILTHY RODENTS AT BAY.
