OhBootsy sends us the letter above over the weekend:
“MAJOR CHANGES COMING TO 21ST ST NW?
Found this on my porch; losing 120 parking spaces on 21st St NW. Is this for real?”

DC Cycle Track’s website says:
“The purpose of this project is to identify a specific route for north- and south-running protected bicycle lanes between Dupont Circle, the western side of Downtown, and the National Mall that provides a safe environment for people biking of all ages and abilities on either 20 , 21 , or 22 Street NW. (more…)

“It’s the glowing red thing just to the left of the Hilton. Seems to be on the same plane as the Old Post Office?”
“Dear PoPville,
Do you or Popville know of a building downtown that has a huge light cube on its roof? It’s possibly around 17th and Penn, but the perspective from my roof deck makes it hard to tell. Recently, it’s been lit up in red and white, and more recently it’s been green and orange stripes.
If anyone has an idea about what this could be, I’d appreciate it! It’s been driving us crazy.”

Thanks to Dave and Kevin for sending: “New street line painting on 18th St between P and Q, NW…no words…”

A very good question indeed. Thanks to The Black Buzz Lightyear for sending Sunday afternoon.

“Dear PoPville,
Does anyone know anything about the abandoned bike chained to the awning pole in front of Lucky Bar on Connecticut? I see it every day going to and from work. It’s missing a rear wheel and I just thought maybe the owner took it to keep the bike from being stolen. Last night when I walked by, I noticed the proprietors of Lucky Bar have wrapped the poles in Christmas garland, including the abandoned bike. Sounds like there’s a interesting story there.”
Ed. Note: You say abandoned bike, I say Christmas miracle. Sounds to me like it simply the folks at Lucky Bar being awesome. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar as my Uncle Sig used to say.
Of course if there is some bizarre story – I’m all ears!!

Thanks to Jeff for sending:
“Apparently this person thought it was a good idea to park their car at the corner of 13th and Pennsylvania”

From NASA:
“Northrop Grumman’s Antares rocket was spotted over the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. this morning. For more stunning images, check out @nasahqphoto on Flickr.”
“The Northrop Grumman Antares rocket, with Cygnus resupply spacecraft onboard, is seen above the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC in this long exposure, as it launches from Pad-0A, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. Northrop Grumman’s 10th contracted cargo resupply mission for NASA to the International Space Station will deliver about 7,400 pounds of science and research, crew supplies and vehicle hardware to the orbital laboratory and its crew. Alan Henney with another gem last night:
“METROBUS DISABLED AFTER STEERING WHEEL DETACHES– Massachusetts Ave at Ward Cir NW-DC. NO injuries. Need WMATA mechanic to respond.”
Jeff noted: “This backed up Massachusetts all the way to Macomb”
But Tony knows what’s up:
Glad to hear no injuries. God bless Keanu. pic.twitter.com/o3HjTwrnNW

Niki writes:
“Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a dramatic increase in helicopter activity over the city for the past six weeks? I don’t think I am imagining the near-constant patrols over my house near 14th & U. (But maybe I am!) I’ve lived here for several years and it’s a new thing.”
And Mike asks:
“Anyone know why helicopters have been circling over Dupont Circle for the last 45 minutes? #FirebaseDupont”
