Alan Henney with another gem last night:

METROBUS DISABLED AFTER STEERING WHEEL DETACHES– Massachusetts Ave at Ward Cir NW-DC. NO injuries. Need WMATA mechanic to respond.”

Jeff noted: “This backed up Massachusetts all the way to Macomb”

But Tony knows what’s up:

Niki writes:

“Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a dramatic increase in helicopter activity over the city for the past six weeks? I don’t think I am imagining the near-constant patrols over my house near 14th & U. (But maybe I am!) I’ve lived here for several years and it’s a new thing.”

And Mike asks:

“Anyone know why helicopters have been circling over Dupont Circle for the last 45 minutes? #FirebaseDupont”

“Dear PoPville,

Totally random but why does DC water have NY license plates? Found that odd.”

Update: Mystery solved. From DC Water:

“Ah! We have contractors who work for us that rent or use their own vehicles. We give them a decal so the community knows the truck is working with/for us.”

“Dear PoPville,

Be interested if the hive-mind have any guesses what’s going on here. Stolen car? Vandalism? Someone with a gripe against MD drivers?”

“Dear PoPville,

As seen at 1pm on Delafield and 8th st NW, this creature was NOT a cat without a tail and was trying to go up the stairs to houses.

Beaver with a fuzzy tail?
Honey badger misplaced?
Someone’s obese ferret escaped?

What is this?!”

According to my expertise, and obviously I had to post this video, it’s not a honey badger. (more…)

Sam, and others, ask: “does anyone know why it has smelled like the zoo outside of the p street Whole Foods for the past month???”

Back in April 2015 the malodorous mystery first reared its ugly head on P Street. At that time DC Water told us it was due to a “clogged sewer line” and took a few days to fix. Perhaps the same issue?

Thanks to Lucia for sending:

“In light of the “Poverty” vanity plate post….Spotted on Sherman Ave. on my commute home yesterday.”

Let’s try to flip this around – what are the best vanity plates you’ve ever seen?
