What is this? This device appeared recently on military road as it crosses rock creek park. Is it a speed camera? Seems to have multiple lenses on all sides.”

Thanks to Alec for sending this “definitely abused truck in the middle of the soccer fields at Anacostia Park section G. Why are all the inconveniently abandoned vehicles in DC bright green?”

Thanks to Meg for sending from “Stadium armory, 18th and Independence SE!”
Ed. Note: Back in May a river otter was spotted in the Tidal Basin. So maybe just taking a tour around town?

Thanks to BW for sending from Landgon: “Woke up to this. Where’s the rest of the truck?”

Thanks to Rob for sending:
“I saw this during my run today around 9:30am by the Washington Monument. Looks like it’s Boston Dynamic’s Spot Arm . But I have no idea what it’s doing around there. When I took this picture, there was a park ranger (I think) who was looking through some papers and questioning its “owners”. But I didn’t stick around to find out what happened.”

Thanks to Stefan for sending: “Astroturf car in Dupont Circle.”
When we last checked in on the AstroTurf car it was in patriotic/holiday mode. The heat has been rough on everyone.

Thanks to quickdraw for sending from Mount Vernon Square.

We’ve been getting numerous reports of “big bangs” and “loud explosions” from all over the District. This is not uncommon as we approach July 4th. These are not “traditional” fireworks. They are very, very loud explosive devices. You will probably hear one in the coming weeks. They don’t always result in fire but you can see from the photo above how powerful they can be.
Jerry reported: “Big bang came from NoMa at 4:44 AM. Flames outside 100 Florida Ave NE put out quickly by 4:46 AM”
Jesse reported one earlier near Adams Morgan: “This one set off car alarms”

Thanks to Mathew for sending: “Extremely large parking garage spider. Half the size of a dollar bill. Looked like a tarantula. Hanging out at L and 18th on the wall.”
