Flashlights strobing all through my windows and between my two buildings at 18th and Wyoming (Streets, NW) on 2 separate occasions late last night. Any idea what that might have been? It was alarming.”

As with previous editions the final word remains ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
One reader reported: “Secret service came and they think it happened in Georgetown north condominium parking lot but they didn’t find anything even after bringing the dog.”
Just before 1am Maggie and many others reported: “Anyone hear the Glover Park explosion just now?” Because of the vicinity to the Russian embassy there were serious concerns. But nothing was found so the conclusion is that either a transformer blew, there were those crazy loud fireworks in a parking lot nearby or people are losing their damn minds. Since many heard it, I’m going with one of the super loud “fireworks”/M80 etc. All are realistic possibilities but rest assured the revolution has not started (yet.)

Thanks to Sylvia for sending from Logan Circle: “I’ve never seen anything like this before. What the heck is it? Looks like a bicycle rickshaw”

From the office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton:
“Last week, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) wrote the Director of the National Park Service, the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the General Manager and CEO of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to request a meeting to discuss the discovery of an unexploded ordinance on the Fort Totten Trail in the District of Columbia. This is a new one, tweezy send from their back yard in Anacostia. “Drivers, if you ghost ride your truck in reverse you’re gonna have a bad time.”
Questions remain.

Thanks to Steve for sending yesterday from Columbia Heights: “neat to see that the metro money train is still running, given all the train issues the last few months.”

What the what!?! Thanks to Linday for sending from Adams Morgan: “The last of Brood X cicadas?” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
We live in NE (Ft.Totten/Lamond Riggs area) and when my husband was taking our dog out he found these empty 9mm shell casings in our backyard. We are not gun owners and we have no idea where they came from. That said, we were wondering if there was anything we should do with these other than just dispose of them, like notify law enforcement or some other entity? I’m sure this sort of thing happens a lot all over DC and we figured we’d see if anyone else has any thoughts on this.”
