I knew they had been installed, but others didn’t because twice today, cars almost slammed into my driver’s side, trying to get over at the last second and avoid running into these.

Why on earth would DDOT install these pedestrian corrals(?) in the middle of a lane on a busy thoroughfare like 9th Street?

I live in Dupont off 17th street and for WEEKS there has been an unidentifiable loud squeaking noise [video/sound of noise after jump] (like a metal fan in need of wd-40 or a squeaky wheel on a shopping cart) somehow nothing has been done about it and I am unable to discern what direction it is coming from so I’m unable to find whoever or whatever is responsible. Last night Rebecca asked around 7:30pm: “huge swarm of bats nearby Edgewood Rec Center?!?”

Rebecca later followed up: “CHIMNEY SWIFTS! I asked an expert bird friend. They did, in fact, all dive into that chimney together!”

Vera Marie replied: “My friends thought these were birds; coworkers thinks bats. This was around dusk at the neighboring rooftop a few weeks ago” (more…)
