Thanks to Bill for passing on more details from DC Water:
“Emergency repairs are progressing on a nine-foot sewer tunnel that has closed a section of 22nd St NW since early July. DC Water and its contractor have made significant repairs to reinforce the tunnel. Repairs to a large void above the tunnel are ongoing to mitigate the risk of a sinkhole and collapse under the weight of traffic. Additional work is expected to continue for another five to six weeks, before a portion of the road can reopen. (more…)

“Same thing happened to us this year again. So frustrated with Washington Gas. Called them several times but nothing happened. The gas line on 13th is low pressure and old. They need to be replaced and maintained regularly. Anytime we have rain or flood, the water will get inside the gas line and create a blockage. Our location will remain closed or open with limited menu and bar.” (more…)

“Impacted neighborhoods include River Terrace, Mayfair, Eastland Gardens, Kenilworth, Deanwood, Central Northeast, and Anacostia Park.
he District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) issued a Boil Water Advisory today for some customers that are or have had loss of water pressure in Northeast D.C. on Tuesday, December 3. The impact is affecting 2,787 customers and many of them are still without water at this time. This is a precautionary notice to customers in the impacted area to boil water that may be ingested due to water of unknown quality in this localized area of the system. When water service is restored, customers should not drink the water without boiling it first. This advisory will remain in place until follow-up testing confirms the water is safe to drink. (more…)

Beginning Monday, November 18, 2024, drivers and visitors will have another option to alleviate the partial closure of Ohio Drive SW. The road provides an easy way to get around the main construction site in West Potomac Park, which will remain active until the project’s completion in 2030. (more…)
