“Dear PoPville,

It was quite a long, but very enjoyable process and the finished product looks great! Thanks to brother Daniel and his artistic skills for creating this special work for my wife and I! And thanks to PoPville for helping me track him down!

For others interested in employing Daniel’s services, he always says his phone number, 202-705-9412, is open for business 25 hours a day 8 days a week.”

From WMATA:

“On Monday, November 26, Metro will begin a 14-day capital improvement project (10 commuting days) on the Yellow Line Bridge over the Potomac River. The project, announced in February, is Metro’s fourth and final major capital improvement project of 2018.

Customers are reminded there will be no Yellow Line service from Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 9, as crews make structural repairs and infrastructure upgrades on the bridge. Yellow Line customers should use the Blue Line for alternate service between Virginia and DC. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Mid-afternoon Wednesday, and at least *six* l delivery trucks and cars completely blocking southbound 14th Street NW bike lane between R and S. One was a FedEx truck, and I thought FedEx/UPS was supposed to stop this stuff after a recent letter from the city. Someone’s going to get seriously hurt. Where’s the enforcement? Where is “VisionZero”?”

Another reader writes:

“Today 11-14 at 4:30pm. Farragut and Arkansas NW. I live on this block of Farragut and this is so common here. Speed is a problem on both streets. Unfamiliar drivers with this intersection traveling on Farragut assume it’s a 4-stop…it’s not. DDOT did respond to me a few years ago about a 4-way saying “not enough accidents”. Brandon Todd’s office has not responded.”

Update from Council Member Todd’s Office:

“Jackson Carnes, Councilmember Todd’s Director of Constituent Services, recently did a site visit on Arkansas Avenue with some neighbors and is working with DDOT to explore safety improvements. Traffic safety and Vision Zero are very important to Councilmember Todd and he will continue to collaborate with DDOT on finding solutions.”

Alan Henney with another gem last night:

METROBUS DISABLED AFTER STEERING WHEEL DETACHES– Massachusetts Ave at Ward Cir NW-DC. NO injuries. Need WMATA mechanic to respond.”

Jeff noted: “This backed up Massachusetts all the way to Macomb”

But Tony knows what’s up:

Thanks to David for sending Monday:

“Looks like 3 poor souls didn’t read the bikeshare instructions properly and left their bikes on thr bike rack. This was outside of the air and space museum and I’m Not confident they’ll be there when they come back outside. Thats going to be one expensive ride….”

We need a Capital Bikeshare public education program STAT.

Sadly, a stock photo from an incident in 2015

The ride will honor the memories of:

Marcelina Yanez, 84, who was killed at 400 Michigan Ave. NE on Jan. 4.
Roderick Scott, 60, who was killed at 1300 Rhode Island Ave. NE on Jan. 8.
