Important service note: Due to the reduced number of railcars available for service, capacity on Metrorail will be less than previous Independence Days. That means customers should be prepared for longer lines to enter stations near the Mall after the fireworks, up to 60 minutes, and for crowding to occur. (more…)

Update: Wash, DC, Construction Activity/Closures on SB DC-295 at East Capitol Street
Motorists be advised the Road Closures are expected to extend until 0500 hours, Friday, June 30, 2022

MPD reports the following road closures remain in effect until 5 AM Thursday June 30th due to construction activity:
– Southbound MD-295 at Eastern Ave NE
– Outbound New York Ave at on Ramp to Southbound DC-295
– Outbound Benning Rd NE at 36th St Ramp to Southbound DC-295″

“The Metro Transit Police Department will equip officers with body worn cameras (BWC), adding a new tool to MTPD’s crime fighting initiatives. The program is designed to create an additional layer of transparency for sworn officers who protect Metro customers and employees.

MTPD is in the initial stages of developing the program, supported by a grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) of approximately $905,000. (more…)
