Kelly found the answer: “Apparently Michael Collins’ funeral was finally held today at Arlington. Yes, that Michael Collins.”

From Arlington National Cemetery yesterday: “Earlier today, modified military funeral honors with funeral escort were conducted for US Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Collins in Section 51, a fighter pilot and NASA astronaut who flew on the Gemini 10 and Apollo 11 missions.”

I wanted to share a frustrating issue I encountered with the new SmartTrip system since they switched over last year. I lost my wallet last week so I bought a new SmarTrip card, registered it online, transferred my funds from my old card, and even topped it up with more funds and set up automatic refill, all online. Apparently, none of that actually gets sent to your new card until you tap your card at the same metro station at least 24 hours apart so it can “localize” (whatever that means). (more…)

“Metro announced today that beginning Feb.7, customers on the Blue, Blue + (Yellow Line replacement) and Orange lines will see trains every 12 minutes from 6 – 9 a.m. and 3 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday. Beginning Feb. 21, Red Line customers will see trains departing every 8 minutes all day until 9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. (more…)
