Federal Offices in the Washington, DC area are Closed. Maximum Telework is in effect.

Telework Employees are expected to work. Generally, telework employees may not receive weather and safety leave.

Remote Workers are expected to work. Generally, remote workers may not receive weather and safety leave.

Non-Telework Employees generally will be granted weather and safety leave for the number of hours they were scheduled to work. However, weather and safety leave will not be granted to employees who are on official travel outside of the duty station or on an Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) day off or other non-workday.

Emergency Employees are expected to report to their worksite unless otherwise directed by their agencies.

Employees on Preapproved Leave (paid or unpaid) or other paid time off generally should continue to be charged leave or other paid time off and should not receive weather and safety leave.”

“Due to ongoing weather impacts and road conditions across the region, Metro will suspend all Metro Bus service at midnight tonight. No overnight bus service will be available.

Metro will operate modified service on Tuesday, Jan. 27, continuing to assess conditions throughout the day and expand service as safety allows.

“Metro is installing nearly 200 new bus shelters at Metro-owned locations as part of a multi-year capital project. Construction began at Twinbrook station last month and continues at Shady Grove, as of Jan. 5.

Over the next several months, bus shelters at Shady Grove will be replaced two at a time with either single or double shelter designs, based on the number of people each stop serves per day. All bus routes will continue to service Shady Grove; however, bus stops will be temporarily reassigned within the bus loop area to accommodate this work. Metro personnel will be on-site to help customers locate their bus stop. The Shady Grove east Kiss and Ride will be closed during bus shelter construction. (more…)

“On Friday, January 23, 2026, funeral services for Officer Terry Bennett will take place in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Following the funeral service a procession will travel into D.C. and will end in Laurel, MD. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is advising commuters across the region to plan for rolling closures that will impact traffic in both D.C. and Prince George’s County.
