Update: “Update technical rescue Farragut West Metro station. #DCsBravest working beneath the train have confirmed this is a recovery rather than a rescue. Scene will be turned over to @MetroTransitPD and @wmata.”

“Metro and the nation’s leading wireless carriers – AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless – today announced wireless service is now available on the entire length of the Green Line and most of the Yellow Line, following activation of the tunnel segments between Gallery Place and Branch Avenue stations.
To date, 80 of Metro’s 100 miles of tunnel track have cellular and data service available for riders to talk, text and stream. With today’s announcement, three Metro lines have complete wireless coverage: Green, Orange and Blue. The three remaining segments – the Red Line from Dupont Circle north to White Flint, the Yellow line from L’Enfant Plaza to the Potomac River portal along with the one-mile Silver Line tunnel in Tysons – are expected to be completed by June 2020. “Dear PoPville,
Yesterday I was exiting the Ft Totten station when I noticed that the guy in front of me had a rather unusual hoodie on. It had a “D***suckers Hall of Fame” written on top and explicit pictures of what I guess were memorable performances. I brought this to the station manager’s attention and he simply said “welcome to America” and told me to mind my own business. I wa running late to a dentist appointment and the guy was lurking nearby so I didn’t want to get into whether or pornography is protected speech in metro, but is it?”

From WMATA:
“Metro announced the completion of a multi-year capital investment that delivered 145 new escalators for rail customers since 2011. The final new escalator was placed in service at Court House Station earlier this week, about a month ahead of schedule, by Metro’s contractor KONE.
The $176 million investment has slashed the average age of Metro’s escalators to 9.9 years compared to 27 years before the project began, resulting in a dramatic turnaround in escalator performance and a vastly improved customer experience. (more…)
