From a press release:

The Capitol Riverside Youth Sports Park(CRYSP) organization today unveiled a new community-inspired design for a youth sporting facility comprised of multi-use fields, substantial green space, walking paths, and a covered farmer’s market pavilion.  The project is a growing effort to provide underserved DC youth with safe, accessible and high-quality playing fields and green space for recreation.  The proposed site is the little-used North parking lot of RFK Stadium – an area of urban blight in desperate need of green infrastructure that can mitigate the storm water discharge to the Anacostia River.

Dear PoPville,

I’d be interested in knowing what bars (other than the usuals) will be playing the United game with sound on Sunday? Looking for a good place to watch!

I vote for The Pug at 1234 H Street, NE. For other soccer fans – where will you be watching?

The first leg of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Houston Dynamo is on Sunday, November 11 at 4:00 pm. DC will play at home on on Sunday, November 18 at 4:00 pm at RFK. Go United!

The folks at DC United have been kind enough to give someone from PoPville 2 tickets to their first playoff game at RFK in five years on Wednesday, Nov. 7th Saturday Nov. 3rd. So to win the tickets – share your favorite DC United moment and I’ll randomly pick the winner on Thursday afternoon.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Major League Soccer has requested second seeded D.C. United and the third seeded New York Red Bulls alternate home dates in their upcoming Eastern Conference semifinal series. United will now host the first leg Saturday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET before traveling to Red Bull Arena for the return leg of the two-game, total-goal series on Wednesday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Both matches are set to be televised to a live national audience by NBC Sports Network and aired locally via United’s Spanish-language radio partner La Nueva 87.7 FM.

Today, St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay and District of Columbia Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced that they had placed a friendly wager on the outcome of the National League Division Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals.

The Mayors have agreed that, if the Nationals win the series, a special version of the D.C. flag emblazoned with the District’s “Taxation Without Representation” motto will fly over City Hall in downtown St. Louis for a day. Conversely, if the Cardinals take the series, St. Louis’ “three rivers” flag will fly over the District’s John A. Wilson Building (the seat of the Executive Office of the Mayor and the D.C.
