“Mayor Muriel Bowser joined D.C. United, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, and other District officials to cut the ribbon on Audi Field, the new D.C. United soccer stadium at Buzzard Point in Ward 6. The 20,000-seat stadium is expected to attract one million new visitors annually and spur more than $1.6 billion in total economic activity over the life of the stadium. (more…)

“Barry Trotz informed the organization today of his decision to resign as head coach of the Washington Capitals. “Today, the Washington Nationals announced that Theodore N. Lerner has stepped down as Managing Principal Owner of the team. His son, Mark D. Lerner, will now serve in this role. Mark has served as one of the principal owners of the Nationals since the Lerner family purchased the team in July 2006. Major League Baseball formally approved Mark as the team’s “control person” earlier today during its quarterly ownership meeting in New York City. (more…)
