Ellie Collinson and her wife had always cleaned their single-family home in D.C. But when Ellie was diagnosed with a chronic illness, she didn’t have the energy and needed to find someone to help.

“We were trying to find a company that we felt like treated their workers well,” Ellie said. “We wanted to make sure that, if we hired someone to clean, they weren’t being taken advantage of or exploited.”

That’s when they found Well-Paid Maids. Well-Paid Maids is the only living-wage cleaning company in the D.C. area. It pays employees a starting wage of $22 an hour and offers benefits like insurance, 22 days off per year, 100% employer-paid commuting costs and more.

After the first clean, Ellie and her wife were impressed. The cleaner did an awesome job, and the whole process was super easy.

“It made us feel good because we were embarrassed about giving into the notion that we were going to pay someone else to take care of our home for us,” Ellie says.

Plus, with Ellie’s illness, it’s nice knowing all Well-Paid Maid employees are fully COVID vaccinated and that they use green products without harsh chemicals. She also adds that she’s never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. “It’s always been very professional — gay or not gay,” she says.

Ellie’s condition has improved, but she still opts for monthly cleans because she loves working with and supporting Well-Paid Maids. She always recommends them to her family and friends, whether they’re moving, need a deep clean or just need a hand around the house.

All in all, she describes Well-Paid Maids as ethical, thorough and green.

This might not be the biggest weekend for opens but it is a good one if you don’t want to fight off any competition. It’s back-to-school season here in the DMV. For many parents, that means the house is once again quiet — but admittedly a bit of a mess after a busy summer. It’s time to call in some reinforcements and get your home professionally cleaned with Well-Paid Maids

The living-wage cleaning company has happy customers all over the D.C. area with a 5-star Yelp rating.

Just as important, Well-Paid Maids takes care of its employees (not contractors!). It pays cleaners a living wage of at least $22 an hour and also provides health, dental and vision insurance; sick leave; vacation days; paid holidays; and more.

“Working at Well-Paid Maids has felt like a breath of fresh air,” operations manager Lexi Grant said. “Our company’s mission is what we stand by. People deserve their work to be respected and recognized. When that happens, you love what you do, and you create the best results.”

So, once you get the kids off to school, schedule your cleaning online.

Let’s be real: You deserve the break!

Help is here. Finally, there’s a therapist who has time for you. Fifteen minutes could change your life.

Those who have had difficulty finding a therapist are understandably frustrated.
