I’ve noticed a number of these signs around the neighborhood. To be honest I hadn’t known that there was a serious poop problem. Is there? It appears a renegade member of the community has posted a number of these signs around town. Unfortunately they are not affixed very well to the lamp posts and as a result they are scattered on the sidewalks becoming quite a nuisance themselves. So is there even a poop problem to be worried about? Is this a good way to go about addressing the “problem” given the whole ANSWER debacle?

So this guy on New Hampshire Ave., has placed a sign in front of his house advertising his business. As you can see he has set it up so that it looks like it is a regular for sale sign. This can’t be legal. Is this kosher?

Now that was a protest I could get behind. Remember the classic show “What’s happening now”? That was a proper protest. There were people holding placards and there was no damage to public parks. And in the end they got Roger and Rerun back in the building. Alright back on point, thanks to a reader for alerting me to the fact that every single lamppost in Grant Circle has been plastered with protest signs.

The reader writes: “ANYWAY. I got home from a week of vacation and noticed that all around Grant Circle, on every single light post, are bright yellow anti war posters. Now, I’m totally against the war, but I’m also against organizations littering all over public property and when I called ANSWER, the sponsor of the anti war march, she told me that they were allowed to do that because light posts were public property, that i was wasting her time and she hung up on me.”

I have to say that is pretty messed up. We are not talking about the war itself. We are talking about the fact that these signs are a blight. They also have serious adhesive an will not be easily removed after Sept. 15th. So what the hell? Do we have to sacrifice Grant Circle in the name of “free speech”? Do you think the organizers will remove these stickers after the march? I am sure there has got to be a better way. What do you think?

What the hell does the sign say? I may be getting a little petty here but I have noticed a bizarre trend among many of the new shops opening up around town. Of course, I am delighted that these new shops are opening, there is no doubt about that. But you can see the signs of Beveragemania, Nani Kafe, 11 St. Deli, World Greatest Jerk-Mango Cafe, and others and they all have something in common. Instead of good solid signs they have flimsy banners almost scotch taped to their buildings. Whatever happened to proper signage? I’m sure it is a lot cheaper but it seems, well, kind of cheap. I also think proper signage shows a level of commitment and confidence that their businesses will succeed. Or perhaps I’m just being ridiculous…

I was very hesitant to post this entry. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Washington. Al Crostino, an Italian restaurant with a fantastic wine list and delicious food is located on U Street between 13th and 14th. The servers are the nicest, the chef cares, and the prosciutto is unbelievable. Normally, I like to keep secrets like this to myself but I have grown to like you guys so I thought I’d share. If you are going on a date this place is the best – you can impress without breaking your wallet. Plus you are in a fantastic location to go for drinks after dinner. The ravioli is my personal favorite but this is one of the few places where you really can’t go wrong with whatever you order. So thank me later after you try this place!

I saw this on the door of a bodega across the street from Wonderland. Well if my gun is not welcome then I’ll take my business elsewhere thank you very much.

Now I support schools for sure. I even support Public Charter Schools. But just when the election ends and all the yard signs are supposed to be taken down it looks like a new set of signs is sprouting in the neighborhood. I hope this doesn’t become a trend. Incidentally, I’m looking to sell my unwanted vehicle does anyone know where I can get cash for it?
