This one works with or without a plant.

I used to work on international affairs and national security issues. However, I’ve officially left that field for good, I think, because I was reading the Post the other day and it took me two times to properly read that the title “Yemeni President Vows Crackdown on Al-Qaeda Brunch” actually said “”Yemeni President Vows Crackdown on Al-Qaeda Branch“…
We discussed DC’s best brunch options here.

Some times I start my walks with a route in my mind and sometimes I have no idea where I’m going. I’m always excited when I stumble on a street I’ve never heard of (like the one pictured above). This weekend’s walkabout shot me out on Piney Branch Road and though I saw some amazing houses, you really shouldn’t walk on Piney Branch Road through Rock Creek, it is not meant for pedestrians and is terrifying on foot…

I don’t know if this is meant to be humorous or serious advice. Sad times indeed…though it did initially make me chuckle.

Multiple years of “Vogue Knitting” International editions. Who knew?

This young fella has continued to terrify me for four years in a row. In the daytime he’s fine. But if you forget he’s there and in the evening stumble up (or down) New Hampshire Ave not too far from the Petworth metro, well then, this guy will easily take a few years off your life.

But this planter cracked me up.

Recently I’ve read a lot about solar panels on the roof of homes. But I thought it was pretty cool that this porch light was also powered by a small solar panel. I wonder how long it’s going to take before something like this doesn’t seem out of the ordinary?
This is truly an insane video. Thanks to a reader for sending. Sadly NBC Washington writes:
“Zoo police cleared visitors from the area and the zoo’s vet staff went in, sedated the deer and took it to an animal hospital. Its injuries were too serious though and several hours later, after being examined by Zoo experts, the deer was put to sleep.”

I had to do a double take when I walked by this tree. It was filled with weed whackers like some odd Landscaper Christmas tree. It was in the Bloomingdale neighborhood. Very odd…
