Normally I pass tea pots, vhs cassettes, books and the occasional poster but this tops all the previous finds. It would’ve been an awesome find on its own but with the sign “free and useful stuff” above it, well, I must’ve looked like a lunatic because I think I laughed for a whole block.

Back in 2003 (I think it was 2003) I got one of those letters from WASA (now DC Water) about lead in the drinking water. I immediately got a brita and even the city mailed out free filters for the following 6 months or so. Anyway, it has come to my attention that even if you just use your brita pitcher for water it still has to be cleaned! It never occurred to me. Well the bottom of my pitcher was filled with black mold. Yeah, I’ve switched to the system that hooks straight onto the faucet…

How does one brick go missing?

I can’t remember if I’ve asked this before but I spotted this truck again which made me laugh – Royal Scent of a Moor. Is it possible the Moors were known as a fine smelling group?
It seems some folks are far more comfortable than perhaps they ought to be at a public airport. This is likely the prelude to the most awkward in-flight conversation ever…or the greatest.
The reader writes:
“I shot this video as I was waiting to board a flight at National Airport on Friday. Not sure what more there is to say, other than WTF? And I give the guy props for wearing the outfit better than I ever could.”
A reader spotted this great book on boing boing. It says:
“Popville is a sweet, slender little pop-up book that illustrates the growth of a town from a single farmhouse to a thriving city in a series of stylized scenes that build, one upon the next, through a window cut out of the center of the page, so that each development literally overlays the ones beneath.”
Sadly there is no affiliation with the PoPville that makes up the neighborhoods I cover, but this is a fantastic book for those with kids.
