Last week we looked at our first hero flying up the 11th Street Bike Lane with keg in tow. Yesterday, a reader nominates this hero for navigating H Street with ease sans stroller:

“I hate strollers. So to me, this woman is a true hero. 8th & H NE”

Should you spot a quiet act of heroism along these lines please do send an email with a brief description and the neighborhood where it was witnessed to [email protected] or tweet @PoPville.

I still don’t understand the thought process of having your outdoor steps carpeted but it makes me smile every time I see one. You don’t ever see them anymore – this one’s hanging on in Columbia Heights.

From a press release:

“Penn Social, DC’s hotspot for fun, and Soupergirl, the District’s delicious local soup company, are excited to announce our partnership to bring you “Boozy Gazpacho”, filling a much needed niche in DC.

Through September, Penn Social will be serving up two funky and delicious flavors: “Tipsy Tomato Fresca,” a classic tomato gazpacho mixed with Rogue Spruce Gin, and “Your Peach is on Fire,” a savory peach gazpacho combined with spicy Absolut Peppar Vodka (virgin versions available).

Penn Social will have Happy Hour tastings of our collaboration soups this upcoming Thursday, 8/27 and Friday, 8/28 from 4-7 PM. Free samples and coupons for purchases will be provided. More information on the events can be found at facebook.com/thesoupergirl and facebook.com/pennsocialdc. Full menus for both restaurants can be found at thesoupergirl.com and pennsocialdc.com.

Once summer comes to a close, Penn Social will begin serving hot Soupergirl soups for the Autumn and Winter. These include seasonal favorites such as West African Peanut Stew, Traditional Indian Mulligatawny, Triple Ginger Butternut Squash, Winter Root Vegetable Chili, Split Pea Rosemary, and many more.

Penn Social, located in the heart of Penn Quarter at 801 E Street NW, regularly features live music, Trivia Tuesdays, and Wednesday game nights. Happy hour is every day from 4 – 7pm. Soupergirl has two locations in the District; a restaurant in Takoma Park and a to-go spot downtown, located at 1829 M St. NW. Their homemade soups are fresh, local, seasonal, and entirely plant-based.”
