“Dear PoPville,
I live with my husband and 10-month old daughter and we’ve recently been shocked by the DC police’s lack of response to school alarm systems going off at all hours of the night and day.
The emergency alarm system at Dorothy Height Elementary has been going off throughout the night and day for about a week (and for about a month prior to this, but less frequently). See attached video. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
A few years ago a developer bought the row home behind us and used it as their office (despite it being zoned residential). Over those years they never took out their garbage and often let it pile 3 or 4 trash bags high. The rats had a field days and there was constantly trash everywhere. Customers will notice faster entries and exits on Red Line trains, causing doors to open within 3-5 seconds after the train stops on the station platform. The time saved per stop is around 10-15 seconds. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
We live behind the apartment building directly behind the zoo and they are abysmal about their trash pickup up schedule and capacity. Rats have taken over their parking lot and the alley at night, while crows show up in the am. (more…)

“Dear Popville,
Back in May of this year, I had a run in with a lady matching the description from the previous posts. As I was walking my dog, I heard a commotion around Newton and Brown Streets NW, saw someone moving some recycling bins, didn’t think anything of it, and kept walking toward Monroe. I heard a sound from behind me then a glass bottle shattered (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Assault with deadly weapon on Mt. Pleasant St NW on Sunday, November 19th at 12pm
On Sunday, November 19th at 12pm, I was sitting on the Sun’s Cinema patio on Mt. Pleasant Street NW with two friends. We were eating lunch with our two dogs when we were approached by an agitated individual known in the neighborhood.
The dogs began to bark, and this person became activated and started yelling threats. I was unable to de-escalate the situation. (more…)
