Blue_Lost Dog

Dear PoPville,

My neighbor isn’t sure if her dog Blue was stolen or got out of her front yard yesterday. We live on L Street NE between 17th street and Bladensburg. Blue is a 4 year old male Yorkie with one discolored eye. Any help would be much appreciated so this pup can find it’s way back home!!! Please e-mail damad87(at)aol.com or call Ms. Cookie, Blue’s owner at 202-652-1429 if you have any information.

From Gerald:

Our beloved Sweet Pea has gone missing. Pea went missing yesterday evening in the Fort Dupont park neighborhood in southeast Washington in the vicinity of Massachusetts Avenue. Pea’s wearing a tag but is not microchipped. Any prayers/help from readers is very much appreciated!

From an email:

We’ve formed a group called Friends of Columbia Heights Dog Park, to support improvements to and maintenance of the dog park at 11th & Park Roads NW. The park is currently a bit of an eyesore, and we want to fix that (as well as a number of safety and sanitation issues) by putting down a different ground material, building a double-entry gate, closing up areas where small dogs can escape, and creating enforceable rules and norms. The land is owned by WMATA, which makes doing this work on our own a little more challenging (we’re totally willing to do all the work, but need guidance and input from them to ensure they still have all the access they need to do what they do). We want to be able to go to them with a list of MANY supporters as part of our effort to get this done. So if you’re a dog owner who uses the park (or you don’t use it because you think it’s gross), and/or you’re a neighborhood resident who is interested in seeing the park get beautified and better maintained, please sign up at www.columbiaheightsdogpark.org.

Dear PoPville,

My neighbor’s dog was just accidentally let out by a contractor. She is a two year old black and white pitbull wearing a pink collar and answers to Sasha. She is incredibly sweet and loves people and other dogs. She is chipped and their contact info is on her collar.

Last seen at running up NJ avenue, NW. Lives near 4th and N st NW.

Dear PoPville,

I’ve lived on my street in lower Shaw for seven years, not that it should matter. Our building has a small patch of grass with no fencing. We’re really the only non-wrought iron fenced lawn on the block. We’re also the crappiest building on the block, but again, that shouldn’t matter. I’m writing because recently I’ve started politely asking people not to curb their dog on our lawn. I’m a tenant, it is private property and the many children in the building play on this space. Dogs are not permitted in the building so it’s not an issue with the tenants who share the property. I’ve encountered everything from “I’ve lived in this neighborhood for X years!!” to anger and people flinging curses at me to the weirdest “Go back to Norther Virginia (bleep bleep)!” I’m working with the landlord to put up those no-pooping signs, but in the meantime I just wanted to see if anyone out there in PoPville can tell me why my neighbors feel so entitled to let their dog feces be, even if temporarily, plotzed upon private property? Would it be okay if I curbed a dog on your fenced lawn even if I cleaned it up? I’m frustrated and pretty sure the next time someone reacts with anything but “Oh, no problem” I’m going to scream like a crazy person.
