Bugsy

“Dear PoPville,

Our cat got out yesterday around 4pm and we have not seen him since. He was an indoor out door cat with his previous owner in the neighborhood (Park View) but has been an indoor cat for about a year. We call him Bugsy. He is very very friendly and likes people so he would come straight up to you or hang out near a house hoping to get in. If anyone has seen him they can email me at julia(at)spoolia.com or call me at 202-374-4001.”

“Dear PoPville,

We found this dog near 11th & Harvard around 3am this morning. He has a collar but no tags. Will keep for a couple hours before taking to the Humane Society. Hoping to find the owner in the neighborhood if possible.”

If you recognize this dog please email columbiaheightscrib(at)gmail(dot)com

Update: Owner Found!

“Havoc has been seen consistently in your neighborhood for the past 3 months, and this has been confirmed by K9 tracking dogs. My volunteers and I spend hours a day looking for him, but at this point, the chances are small that there will bet he perfect right time/ right place to see Havoc. This is where I am asking for help.

An IMMEDIATE phone call is so critical to me getting Havoc home. It does not matter if it’s 3:00 am or you are unsure of what you saw – I’d rather get incorrect calls than no calls. Havoc moves quickly, so waiting even 15 minutes makes a huge difference. If you do see Havoc, please follow him until I get there – I can be there in 10 minutes.

Please save my number. Put it in your phone, or take a picture of this flyer with your camera phone so you always have my information on hand. I continue to get sightings, but they come hours or days later because people tell me they do not have my phone number handy.

Thank you for the continued tolerance of all my signs.. I cannot wait for the day when I can remove them.”

“Dear PoPville,

Took a walk this morning and came across an odd display. The astro-turf yard of the newly remodeled building in Logan Circle is strewn with dog sh*t – literally dozens and dozens of piles of dog sh*t. There must be a few weeks worth of sh*t. It’s a really nice house, probably worth in the high six digits if not a million.”

We’ve spoken about the astro turf a few times in the past. My question is – since this is a private yard – should we mind our business about the dog crap or because it is visible and on a corner we should expect the yard to be cleaned up?

From the Brookland listserv:

“Our 9-year-old daughter was attacked by a pit bull on the way home from tae kwon do just now. It came out of nowhere. And bit her face. My husband had to kick it away. There are two pit bulls roaming the neighborhood. Please keep your kids inside. (6:30 PM Wed)

An update: The dog was a presa canario, not a pit bull. Apologies for the misinformation, but it was dark and we thought it was a pit bull at first and wanted to get the information out as soon as possible so others could know to stay away from the dogs. The presa canario is also an aggressive breed, however, from what we understand. In any event, the dog was a neighbor’s and got out through an open gate. It has been put in a 10 day in-house quarantine. Our daughter was checked out at the hospital and will be okay. Thanks for your concern.”

and in a heartbreaking update from the father of the little girl:

“Ironically, earlier today I promised my daughter that I would post something on the list tonight regarding her business, PUPPY LOVE. She loves dogs (mom’s allergic so we don’t have any) and makes gourmet dog treats from scratch that she sells to the dog owners in the neighborhood. I hope this incident doesn’t discourage her from pursuing her business or her love of dogs.”

“Lottie was out for a walk when she ran away. She is wearing a pink harness which still had her pink rope leash attached. She is new to us from a rescue group, so she is probably very scared.

She was at 13th and G NE making her way towards 12th and Maryland. Possibly seen heading south on 10th Street.

She LOVES cat food and is great with women, but men scare her. Please call 856-693-3289 or email me at lottiethelostdog(at)gmail.com if you think you see her.”

Update: “While putting up fliers tonight, Lottie found us. She is home resting.”

Luna Carey
Luna

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday, around 530PM, our dog was attacked by another dog inside the LeDroit dog park. The dog that attacked her was a 20 lb-ish, white, short-haired, mixed-breed with black and brown splotches. Very aggressive.

He latched on to Luna’s neck just after we entered (She’s a 13.5 lb white Maltese/Shih Tzu). The owner picked up his dog and our dog was still in his bite, dangling. After a minute or so, he finally got his dog to let go. It was dark and I was just trying to calm her down so we couldn’t tell that she had the wound until he had already left.

The owner has puffy curly black hair, younger, white male in his 30’s maybe. The owner also has a medium sized short-haired, black dog. Please let us know if you have any information to help us locate the owner. We have no reason to believe that he wouldn’t be cooperative.

He hung around to make sure we were okay but we were in shock and the bleeding hadn’t started until she started moving again.

She was admitted to the vet and stitched up immediately. She’s on meds and recovering now. The tube will be removed Saturday if all goes well.”

“One of K-9 Lifesavers’ rescue dogs, Brandi, was on her way to her new foster home on Sunday and ran out of the car on Yuma Street near Reno Road. She was last seen at Park and Otis this morning. Dog is very shy – do not chase – please call 443-310-7631 if you see Brandi. Reward offered.”
