“Rosie is an indoor cat (no collar/ no street sense) and managed to get out of our kitchen and into the back alley of our rowhome on 12th Place (and U Street, NW) late last night. She’s shy so i’m pretty certain that she is hiding and scared in someones backyard right now.

Saturday night July 5th my dog Reese ran away from my house in 16th street Heights while my neighbors continued celebrating with fireworks. She is brown, 12 lbs and 6 years old. I live at ingraham st NW and Georgia ave. she was last seen running west on Jefferson from Georgia ave. Reese needs daily medicine and I will pay a cash reward, thanks Larry 623-363-0044.”

“Dear PoPville,
a neighbor and myself found a dog walking around the neighborhood at 13th and Euclid this morning. No one around seemed to know the dog and no owner was in site. We hung around for a few minutes but since he was walking in the street during rush hour with no regard to his own safety, we thought best to try and find an owner. Dog had no tags, just a black collar. Was brought to City Paws on 14th St and no microchip was found. He’ll be boarded there, they close at 7pm tonight. Wish, I knew the breed, but hopefully pictures are enough.”
“I found this dog on Kenyon between 11th and 13th. She is a chihuahua mix, white with brown marks, wearing a pink and blue collar. Very sweet! 352-318-0659”
“This morning my dog escaped from our yard near 6th and Oneida St NE (near Riggs Road).
She is an English Setter (bird-dog), 35lbs, 6 years old. She’s very friendly, but will focus on birds before people every time. She runs very fast but is likely exhausted by now.

What to do with a cat that consistently pees all over house? At wits end!
“We have an 11 year old cat that for the past 2+ years has been consistently peeing all over the house. We have tried everything we can think of to stop it. He has been checked out by two vets and there doesn’t appear to be any underlying medical condition. We’ve tried all the tips and tricks the vet and internet blogs have suggested. We keep a clean litter box in a private place, we’ve used heavy duty cat urine removers to try and remove the smell and applied special sprays that are supposed to stop a cat from peeing. We give him lots of attention. But nothing is helping. I am sick of cleaning up after it and having my house destroyed not to mention the sanitation concerns considering we have 2 small children. But, what can we do? Take him to a shelter? Who wants an 11 year old cat who pees everywhere? Taking him there is basically akin to getting him put to sleep and it makes me sick to my stomach to think about it.
By all other counts he is a great cat and maybe if he was in a home without the stress of young kids he wouldn’t do it anymore. We’ve tried for months to locate a new home or situation for him with no luck. The final straw was this weekend when we paid a professional service to come and clean all of the carpets and furniture in our house in advance of house guests and he proceeded to pee all over the carpet moments after they left. Has anyone been in this situation before and what did you do? We are at our wits end.”

We used to see Ben and his dad out often, and his dad gave us some sage advice over the past year on how to train our new puppy to be more like Ben – sweet, patient, lovable, and obedient.
