This photo is of course the famous Wonder Bread building on the 600 block of S Street, NW. Sadly, there has been no movement on its development. It is such amazing building:

Do you think the developers are just waiting for the economy to get better?  Or is there a larger issue at play in the lack of development?

“Dear PoP,

What’s the status of Perseus Realty’s YMCA project at 14th and W Streets, NW? Has construction started?”

On their Web site it says they have broken ground on Sept. 26, 2008. But from the photo above, taken on Saturday, it is hard to tell if much progress has been made.

Last we heard about this spot, there was a fire here back in January. I’ll email this post to the developers and see if they can give us an update. Do any readers happen to know if the construction is moving along?

We last looked at this home on V Street (just east of 14th Street, NW) just a few weeks ago. But, wow, is it wild to see it change. I had no idea there would be so many windows. Per usual, what do you think of the construction as well as the “fit” on the block?

This modern condo is just up the block from another modern building we looked at last week. Well, this one is a bit smaller but it has an interesting layout. What do you think of both the inside and the outside? It can be yours for $599,000.

I once asked if these buildings were posh new condos or soviet style barracks? Well after looking at the photos inside it is definitely pretty posh. What do you guys think of the inside. The new price for this rowhome just squeaks under house porn ($1 million) – it can be yours for $995,000. Any fans out there?

La Carbonara is located at 1926 9th Street, NW. (We once spoke of this place a couple of years ago but mostly just discussed the very nice Eritrean owner.) The menu seems very reasonably priced. And of course they have pizza too. For the wine fans you can see their wine list here. So any fans out there?

Wow, I think this is a really cool looking building. It’s located at 2117 10th Street, NW. Dang, I wish I got a wider angle of it. But I think you get the feel. Thumbs up or down?

This is a really interesting home as the title suggests, it is basically one home divided into two. I suppose you could combine it back into one home or rent out half. I guess it makes more sense to rent out half, yeah? What do you think of the home itself? Does $449,900 sound reasonable?

“Dear PoP,

Driving around, I came across Old City Green at the intersection of N and 9th Street, a few blocks north of the convention center. They are an uncovered, fenced lot that sold Christmas trees back in Nov and Dec. I stopped by today to check on what they got going on, and hoped to buy some supplies/plants, but they are not yet open. They will open to customers on 3/28, but will be welcome landscape professionals this weekend. Appeared that they’ll be selling plants (seemed to have a good selection already), garden supplies (soil, wood chips/mulch, etc) and likely other stuff, and seemed to be working on setting up there space well. Very friendly people working the lot.”

Cool. I checked them out last weekend. They will be open to the public on 3/28 but just for the weekend. Starting April, 11th they’ll be open 7 days a week! And the folks were super nice. More info here.
