Whoa – a reader passes on from DCRA:

“A transfer of ownership was approved to 520 Florida Avenue Restaurant LLC for Shaw’s Tavern’s license on Wednesday, March 11; however, the license has not yet been issued. Several outstanding documents still need to be provided to ABRA, including a certificate of occupancy, before the license can be issued to the new owner.”

The reader says the new ownership group are the same folks who own Front Page, located in Dupont at 1333 New Hampshire Ave, NW. Updates when more info is known.

A reader reports about 7:15pm:

“Train evacuated at Shaw, lots of people coughing. Possibly a pepper spray prank by teens seen running away”

Update from an eyewitness:

“I was on the train car that got pepper sprayed tonight. It wasn’t exactly a prank. There were a group of teenagers on the train (I was sitting behind them) and another individual who got into a verbal fight and were taunting and threatening back and forth. The individual went to get off the train at the Shaw stop and someone sprayed pepper spray. I believe the individual sprayed it in the direction of the teens. Then the teens ran off the train after her. Unfortunately, the pepper spray remained in the air and quickly spread throughout the car. Everyone moved toward the ends of the car (the incident had taken place by the middle doors), but the doors had just closed before most people realized what had happened. Luckily, the operator opened the doors and everyone ran off. She then realized something was going on and subsequently, they unloaded the entire train and eventually put it out of service.”

From MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department, Third District, is asking for the public’s assistance.

They have attempted to commit robberies in the following areas:

1500 block of 7th St Nw

Holy mackerel – Shaw is tearing it up. Scroll down and you’ll already see tons of great news from just this morning. Now comes the mother mother lode from the Washington Business Journal. First let me say that June’s Warby Parker scuttlebutt has been confirmed but still no news of a Whole Foods. Now for the rest:

“Trendy eyewear boutique Warby Parker and restaurants from the folks behind some of D.C.’s hottest restaurants are coming to two high profile developments in Shaw later this year.”

The Business Journal then goes on to list who’s coming to the Atlantic Plumbing and the Shay (8th and V St, NW). Here’s a sampling “new concept from Neighborhood Restaurant Group of Birch & Barley and Bluejacket fame and a concept from the owners of Chinatown ramen and izakaya restaurant Daikaya, Declaration Pizza, and Tasty Burger.”

and a sampling for the Shay:

“Warby Parker, Freehand, a restaurant from chef Tim Ma, the owner of Water & Wall in Arlington and Maple Ave. in Vienna, and a second location of Compass Coffee, Benrus (watches), Kit and Ace (clothing from Lulu lemon guy), Read Wall (clothing), and Steven Alan (clothing).

Holy freaking mackerel.
