I was walking by the old Rib Pit building near 14th and Randolph, and I noticed the For Lease sign has been taken down (it is up over the old Rib Pit Lounge next door), and it now looks like the space is being renovated.”
Back in July we noted the Rib Pit and Rib Pit lounge spaces were for sale at 14th and Randolph St, NW.

About a week ago Sisy’s Restaurant became a new Mexican Restaurant called El Sol (stay tuned for new signage).
While they have tons of Mexican and Salvadoran dishes (unfortunately their menu isn’t on line yet). They are also keeping Sisy’s breakfast menu.

“PPW will be hosting a free art book swap in the Reading Room at Petworth Citizen on Monday 3/17 6-8pm. People can bring in coffee table books, art/craft instruction books, indie arts publications and the like and swap them out for new ones. Leftovers will become part of the Free Library there.
As a bonus, Petworth Citizen has an extended all-night happy hour on Mondays with $4 drafts, wine, and daily punch! It’s Saint Patrick’s Day too, so a good night to come out and try some of the nice whiskeys they have on hand.”

Good news from the owner of Baba’s Cooking School/EatsPlace coming to 3607 Georgia Ave across the street from DC Reynolds, Milk Cult Sanctuary and Looking Glass Lounge:

“I fully believe you can’t have food without drink*. In fact some of my favorite foods are drinkable (porridge, congee and grits). I have deep respect for the craft and artistry of bartenders, but it’s still hard for me to get behind the term mixologist. Maybe drinkographer will work instead? Foodies get on that!
Restaurant construction not only depends on the physical infrastructure but also business and regulatory frameworks. Definitely work with your community and ANC, hire a lawyer and remember it’s a labor of stupid, crazy love.

UPDATE: Owner Located!
4203 9th Street, NW

“Lighthouse Yoga Center is moving to 4203 9th Street NW in mid-April. This is the little yellow building next to the Petworth post office, just north of Upshur. The building is in great shape and it’s going to make a beautiful yoga studio! We’re just waiting for the current tenant to move out, and we plan to open at the new location on April 22. We’ll keep running classes at the current site until then, and we expect minimal disruption to our business from the move.”

“UPDATE – After original Officers had responded to the area of 2nd and Upshur an individual called MPD and stated he had been shot at while sitting in a vehicle. Fortunately this individual was not hit by any of the bullets, the vehicle was though. If anyone has additional information about this incident please call 202-727-9099.”
