“On Saturday, August 3, 2019, at approximately 5:00 pm, Fourth District members responded for a burglary that occurred in the 500 block of Park road NW. The victim reported that the suspect entered his condo by coming in the patio door while he was in his back room. The victim got a notice that someone was inside his condo and while investigating he observed the suspect in his front room attempting to steal his property. (more…)

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the District will host its inaugural Open Streets event on Saturday, October 5, 2019, along Georgia Avenue, NW. Nearly three miles of the avenue will be free of vehicular traffic between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., allowing residents to walk along and in the roadway and enjoy a wide range of activities for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. A reader reports around 5:50am an intern was hit in the 2400 block of Georgia Ave, NW. He wasn’t sure if the intern was walking or jogging but he sustained a broken leg and is currently stable at Medstar. The driver reportedly stayed on the scene.

“Location of incident: in the rear of 2200 Q Street, NW.
At approximately 12:00 pm., a suspect fired a weapon at the listed location.
Members on the scene recovered two shell casings. No victim, no vehicle, or property were damaged.

A reader reports:
“I live on the 600 block of Newton Pl NW and we heard several gunshots last night. It was around 11:30-midnight at the intersection of Newton Pl NW and 6th St NW. The police came and sectioned off the end of the street with yellow tape shortly thereafter and took someone into custody. Have you heard anything about this? We are curious as to what happened but haven’t seen anything online.”
