Free Happy Birthday Mini-Cones – From 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 12, Ice Cream Jubilee will be giving away free mini-cones from our ice cream cart at 301 Water Street, SE by Yards Park. Anyone who visits Ice Cream Jubilee before 2:00pm and says “Happy Birthday!” will receive a 3″ mini cone.“

“A call was placed from a building inside of the Washington Navy yard for possible sounds of gun shots around 0729 AM – a subsequent request was made to partner law enforcement agencies for assistance. At this time we have completed our search of the building and have found no evidence of a shooting or injured personnel.
The scene has been turned back over to Vice Admiral Hilarides of the NavSea Command.”

This is very likely the balloon from Air Photos Live, a “Digital Design & Imaging Service” last spotted in March. You can read some background on them after previous sightings here.
Of course it could just be a promotion for Jurassic World/hamburglar water glasses that deflated…

“The Washington, D.C. stop kicks off the 2015 season of Tour de Fat and will feature eclectic entertainment, yo-yo performances and even vaudeville acts. Everyone 21 and older is invited to sample new and classic favorites from New Belgium including the brewery’s flagship brew, Fat Tire, New Belgium’s latest year-round offering, Slow Ride Session IPA, and selections from the acclaimed Lips of Faith series.
Tour de Fat is free to participants, but beer and merchandise proceeds from the Washington, D.C. stop will go to:

Yesterday we learned “Hill Country Backyard BBQ not coming back to the Building Museum but They’re Gonna do Something in Navy Yard”. A commenter with the scoop on the new location for Navy Yard:
“They’re setting up shop at the corner of N St. SE and South Capitol where the gas station used to be. They have string lights, picnic tables, bathrooms and a ‘Hill Country’ bar set up already.”

Have you heard anything about Hill Country doing their Backyard BBQ at the Building Museum again this year? Last year it started at the beginning of May, but I haven’t heard anything, and can’t find any updates online.”
Folks from Hill Country tell me:
“We will not be at the Building Museum this year, but will have happenings at the Navy Yard. We should have more info soon!”
In 2013 Hill Country had plans for:
“Seasonal Outdoor Tavern at Tingey Plaza South East Federal Center serving barbecue food and beverages with Live Entertainment.”
