Back in June we learned that Sticky Fingers would be opening a 2nd location on H Street, NE. They’ve just applied for a liquor license that says:

“Restaurant serving baked goods, sandwiches, coffee, desserts, birthday cakes, cupcakes, pies and cookies. Seating for 48 patrons and total occupancy load of 120.”

Their current Columbia Heights location is at 1370 Park Rd, NW across the street from Giant. The Columbia Heights spot added booze to their menu back in late 2013. Looks like the H Street location still needs some serious renovations so stay tuned for an exact opening date.

From DDOT:

“Below is a statement on the status of the DC Streetcar from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)’s Acting Director Leif Dormsjo:

“Passenger safety is the number one priority for public transportation in the District of Columbia. Further, given the need to achieve safety certification, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will not set arbitrary deadlines for the independent State Safety Office (SSO) to complete their regulatory compliance review. The Bowser Administration will work to launch the H Street line of DC Streetcar as part of our effort to expand the District’s transportation infrastructure and will put this long-delayed line on track. DDOT will continue to work with the independent SSO to ensure that Streetcar meets – and exceeds – all safety specifications before setting an official date to begin passenger service.”

“Dear PoPville,

The irony of the economic development building being razed for Economic development…”

Ed. Note: Ha! Someone remind me what’s going in here?

From an email:

“Vigilante Coffee launching a new, exciting pop-up cafe inside of Impala Cantina Y Taqueria on H Street NE!

The pop-up will run from 7:30a – 1:00p Friday-Sunday starting January 16, 2015. This pop-up is a partnership and collaboration between Vigilante Coffee and Impala, as they will be making special donuts that we’ll serve alongside our coffee. The pop-up will feature a special walk-up sidewalk ordering window as well as a heated patio space to enjoy your coffee or latte. We are planning for now to stay there until Maketto opens and we’ll transition over to that space.

We’re really excited to be partnering with another awesome local business as well as being able to serve our coffee directly to our own neighborhood, just blocks away from where we started our company.”

On Friday (then) Mayor Gray issued one of his final press release:

“Following a series of meetings between District Department of Transportation (DDOT) officials and State Safety Oversight, Mayor Vincent C. Gray said the DC Streetcar is expected to be ready for passenger use the week of January 19, 2015.

“DDOT and District safety inspectors continue to work together to open the DC Streetcar to passenger service. Safety continues to be our top priority. And while we know that the first day of service is going to be a great day for District residents, we don’t want to rush for the sake of rushing,” said Mayor Gray. “With that in mind, though, I am now delighted to report that the week of January 19, 2015 is the target for getting H Street up to full speed.”
