Bike lockers at Eastern Market

“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking for some advice regarding safe, indoor overnight bicycle parking in DC. I carpool into work and keep my bike in the office to ride around during the day, but I was recently told I couldn’t store it overnight there any longer.

Are there any safe, indoor spaces to park a bike overnight and on weekends in DC? Preferably close to the downtown area if possible.

Back in early December we broke the news that the International Square Food Court would be closing (RIP Stoupsy’s foreva.) Thanks to a reader for passing on some plans for what’s coming via Bisnow:

“The food court inside International Square and street-level restaurant Prequel both closed last month. Tishman Speyer’s email to tenants said it plans to add a food hall to the building’s street level with about 20 carefully curated vendors and a bar. The owner also plans to add two new full-service restaurants and a boutique grocer to the street level, plus an additional restaurant to the lower level, the email said.”

I’ve already heard one rumor of a Whole Foods… STAY TUNED.

A new liquor license placard for the space says:

“Request to increase Total Occupancy Load from 397 to 549, with interior seating for 397 patrons. Rooftop Summer Garden occupancy load will increase from 77 to 184.”

Any fans?

One reader first reported around 12:30pm: “Secret Service uniformed and Postal Inspection police at DOJ. 14th between G and NY Ave”

Jack reported just before 1pm: “Any idea what is happening at 14th and New York NW? Homeland security police and secret service cars. Crime scene tape on 14th”

“Was on G Street. FBI Evidence Response team just walked up”

From DC Police Traffic: “Traffic Advisory / Police Activity: 14th Street, New York Ave to F Street, NW closed in both directions. Use alternate routes: 13th Street, NW and 15th Street, NW.”

Updates. (more…)
