A tipster sends word that employees were told that The Heights had sold in Columbia Heights. It is possible the new owner could be The Counter Burger – updates as more info is known.

“Dear PoPville,
Her name is Tessa, around 25-30 lbs, tri-color sheltie, about six years of age, wearing tags. Lives in the Columbia Heights area. Please call Lisa at (484) 505-9621.”
Ed. Note: A reader spotted her this morning but she’s still missing so continue to keep your eyes peeled please.

“Washington Wake
Saturday football is back in the NFL. The Skins will cast a somber tone over the proceedings as they lay in state at FedEx Field vs. the Eagles at 4:30pm. Funeral services will be held at Lou’s City Bar. Black attire is suggested, and “Im-peach Snyder” shots will be given out for each nail the Eagles put in the coffin. Following a loss, Lou’s will black out next week’s purgatorial Deadskins-Cowboys finale.”

“Dear PoPville,
A sad day on the street. We live next door [1500 block of Oak St, NW] and they are taking down what was a gorgeous tree in the back.”
“Dear PoPville,
Lots of police activity in the bottom right corner of Meridian Hill Park [10:45am]. 8 cop cars and crime scene tape. Any idea what’s going on??”
@RudeHaggis tweets:
“Body at Meridian Hill Park this morning. At least, I think that’s what the police were hiding behind a sheet. @PoPville #dc”
Updates when/if more info is known.
@grahamacdonald tweets us:
“@PoPville confirmed body found”

From MPD:
“The Third District has made another package theft arrest.
The theft occurred in the 3000 block of 13th St., Northwest.
We used video footage from a private camera to identify the thief.
Thanks to the quick action of one of your neighbors we were able to make the arrest.”
Another reader sends MPD tips:
“Please help us in our fight against mail package theft by reviewing the following tips.
Here’s what you can do to protect your mail from thieves:
1. Get a tracking number from the shipping company.
2. Require a signature with the delivery.
3. If you won’t be home, have the company leave the package at a local shipping center.
4. Set up an obvious surveillance camera with your home security system.
5. If UPS is making the delivery, get onboard with their U.P.S. My Choice program, which sends an e-mail or text message to the customer just prior to package arrival; it will be rerouted if nobody is home. (more…)

Well done sir. Update – Damn you if this is a not a legit fundraiser.
Thanks to a reader for sending from Craigslist:
“I have a three year old Koala Bear named GumNut that I’m desperately trying to find a new home for. I bought him back in January figuring it would be an awesome pet that would enjoy living in my greenhouse, sadly I was wrong. I paid $3200 for him back in January and I’m not sure what the used Koala Bear market is like in a good economy or the one we have now; so I’m open to offers. Please use some common sense before contacting me, don’t be an idiot, I’m not interested in trading my Koala Bear for your busted up 1980’s Camaro, an XBOX, or an offer to paint my garage door.
