From MPD:

“At approximately 0115 hours, Third District units were called to the front of 2406 18th Street NW ( NY NY Diva) for a report of a fight in progress. Units were able to respond and find 7 males fighting each other. The officers were able to stop the fight and place all 7 participants under arrest without further incident. Yesterday the Adams Morgan BID released a potentially interesting bit of news for the former Joint Custody space on 18th Street:

“We learned today that Erik Miller will be opening DC Vape Joint soon at 2337 18th Street, NW in the lower level under Pharmacy Bar. Their sales hours will be 11 am to 9 pm seven days a week.”

A search on google doesn’t reveal much but it does have a cached facebook page that says:

“DC Vape Joint. DC Vape Joint is a full service electronic cigarette retail shop and vape lounge; creating a vaping lifestyle with a healthy alternative to smoking.”

Would this be the first vape lounge in the District?

“Dear PoPville,

I live in the Dorchester House and I’ve been trying to find out more information about the apartments they are building in our former parking lot. The last article I can find about it is from 2013 – and none of the sites I find even list the developer.”

From the developer’s website Clark Builder’s Group:

“Dorchester House is a 117-unit addition to an existing nine-story concrete building. Built above a two-story below grade parking garage, the studio, one- and two-bedroom luxury apartment community is conveniently located within blocks of the National Zoo and the heart of Adams Morgan. Community amenities include a rooftop terrace and clubroom, fitness center, and ground-floor courtyard area with gazebo.

Completion: January 2015

I walked by over the weekend and the addition is around the corner from the main Dorchester House on 17th Street near the Harris Teeter.

“Dear PoPville,

Over the last several days I’ve noticed Mixtec restaurant being closed. Do you know what’s going on with it?”

Earlier this month Washingtonian reported:

“One of Adams Morgan’s oldest restaurants may close after 40 years. Mixtec owner Pepe Montesinos tells us he’s unsure of the restaurant’s future.”

I took a peek in the window on Sunday and plates and dishes were piled up:

Sadly it seems they decided not to take an extension like next door neighbor Pasta Mia. We judged Mixtec back in 2009. Will update when we learn who will take over the space.

In Dec. 2013, after sporadic hours, we finally pronounced Snap dead in Adams Morgan. Now Adams Morgan BID The 42 Bus reports:

“Z-Kabob is opening soon where Snap used to be at 2475 18th Street, NW. Signage for Z-Kabob was erected last week at 2475 18th St NW. This appears to be the same Z-Kabob already found in four locations across Maryland and Virginia. If that is indeed the case, they’ll be offering a halal menu with meat kabobs, haleem, biryanis, and more, including some vegetarian options.”

You can see Z Kabob’s Menu here.

From Council Member Jim Graham:

“I am pleased to inform you that the Court of Appeals has dismissed a challenge against the planned Adams Morgan Hotel at Champlain and Euclid Streets in Adams Morgan.

This means that the project can now move forward unimpeded by this challenge.

Daytime commerce is certain to be substantially invigorated by this hotel development. We have also preserved a historic church building, the future of which was at best in doubt.

It is a great victory for our community.”

Back in early January we learned the hotel would be called The Line DC.
