From WMATA:

“Effective immediately, Metro will make masks optional on Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess for its customers. Masks also will be optional for Metro employees. This change comes as a result of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) suspending enforcement, while the Biden Administration reviews a federal judge’s ruling.

“Our mask mandate has been based on federal guidance,” said General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Wiedefeld. “We will continue to monitor this situation as it unfolds, but masks will be optional on Metro property until further notice.”

Metro encourages its customers to make decisions that are in their best interests. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.”

“Dear PoPville,

Do any of you have an obstetrician or midwife you recommend? Anyone deliver a baby using Kaiser?”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Health announced that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is now recommending a second booster dose for individuals 50 and older, as well as certain individuals who are immunocompromised and at higher risk for severe COVID-19. Eligible individuals who received their initial booster dose of either the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines on or before November 30, 2021, can now receive a second booster of either vaccine. Adults who received a primary vaccine and booster dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine on or before November 30, 2021 may now receive a second booster dose using an mRNA (Pfizer and Moderna) COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters greatly reduce the chance of being infected with COVID-19 or suffering from severe symptoms. Recent data has shown: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

I just received a call from “DC COVID19 TEAM” (the caller ID was marked as verified on my iPhone) so I picked up and was asked to verify some personal info. They asked me how I am doing since my positive COVID test result and if I have time to complete the Department of Health interview. The only problem is: I have never tested positive for COVID. “Dear PoPville,

I am looking for a new dermatologist. I did a search on Popville and it seems the last time this subject came up was in 2012. Can we refresh for current recommendations?”

From DCPS:

“Throughout the pandemic, DC Public Schools has implemented a layered approach to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, anchored in the guidance provided by DC Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Earlier this week, DC Health released updated guidance for educational facilities. Under the new guidance, masks are no longer required indoors or outdoors at schools when COVID-19 community levels are low based on CDC metrics.

Consistent with this guidance and the current low levels in the District, starting Wednesday, March 16, masks will be optional for students, staff, and visitors in DC Public Schools, DCPS offices, and on OSSE-DOT transportation. This policy will apply to all school-related activities. (more…)

last week we reported that “DC Health Announces New COVID-19 Community Level Metrics”. The District’s COVID-19 Community Level at that time was low.

Whoops, didn’t mean to publish this but kept pushing the time back assuming I’d get a press release and then I went to the movies (Licorice Pizza – it was excellent), and forgot about this. I may have had some gin too. OK then, here’s where you can find the key metrics, currently still low.
