“Slice & Pie, named the country’s #2 slice shop by Italian organization 50TopPizza, will open a second location in Union Market this summer. The DC-based business from master pizzaiolo Giulio Adriani will begin serving NY and Detroit-style slices for takeout and delivery from a stall in The Market, Union Market District’s food market occupied by 40+ independent merchants. Slice & Pie’s new location will share their space with Taste of Lucy, a bite-sized version of Adriani’s Italian cocktail bar Lucy (which also shares an address with Slice & Pie’s original location). Taste of Lucy will serve highlights of the original location’s menu including Neapolitan pizzas, a rotating pasta option, and select appetizers. An edited selection of Lucy’s cocktail menu, featuring about five cocktails and four to six wines by the glass will also be available, and the new location will offer a Happy Hour menu daily from 5pm until 7pm. The Subway closed here after 21 years, in September 2024.

Comment from Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton: “Closing Dupont Circle for #WorldPride is an unnecessary affront to DC’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community, for whom the park holds historical significance.I’m disappointed that NPS is moving forward with the closure, despite MPD rescinding its request and my urging NPS to keep it open.”

Claims Cafe U. Well this sign stopped me dead in my tracks and while I normally always have room for lox I had just stuffed my face with pizza (at Slice & Pie, very very good but we’ll revisit best pizza another time) anyway, I wasn’t able to sample myself. So, true or false? (more…)
