Normally these closures are ordered for underage sales or violence of some kind. Anyone know what happened? Looks like a letter up top in the photo – anyone happen to see what it said. Ed. Note: Of course I asked OP but haven’t heard back yet.

Back in January we learned that Scarlet Oak was shooting for a mid-May opening:
“Same partnership group as Southern Hospitality (SoHo) in Adams Morgan will be opening Scarlet Oak. We have hired a new Exec. Chef for both SoHo and Scarlet Oak he previously worked at Red Hen and Proof – there will be some carry-over from the new SoHo menu.”
They’ve now posted their liquor license placard:
“New American fusion restaurant. Seating inside premises is 81. Total load inside premises is 120. Sidewalk Cafe with seating for 75.”
Updates when they have an exact opening date.

“We realize it is not mandated by law that your facility provide any accommodations, however we implore the organization to consider the fans and their families who love coming to games with their nursing and bottle-fed babies, but do not want to be isolated from enjoying a game we have paid a ticket to see. Additionally, for mothers who may be away from their children for the extended period that a game lasts, it would be courteous for the Washington Nationals organization to provide a space for pumping mothers to take a break in a private, sanitary space to express milk as necessary while attending a baseball game.
An ideal sanctioned Family space in Nationals Park would be ADA-compliant and include:
Comfortable armchairs for the nursing and bottle-feeding parent
Outlets for plugging in breast pumps
Counter space for diaper changing
A sink, trash cans, possibly lockers for renting
HVAC temperature maintained at a level which would be comfortable in a Dressing Room type of environment
Possible adjacency to the children’s play area
Privacy from the passing crowd
Display and sound of the live baseball game
We compel the Washington Nationals organization to consider this upgraded amenity to Nationals Park in order to better provide the team’s fans with an experience and accommodations to be expected from a family-friendly organization.”

Used to be cheaper, but it’s still a great place for a pre- or postgame meet up and awesome on nice days to grab a cold one before hitting the stadium just a minute away.”

The Brig on lower 8th Street is a 210-seat beer garden that is expected to open in late spring or early summer of 2015. Located at 8th and L Street, SE, The Brig will have 15 beers on tap, a bar that opens to a garden, some food offerings, and space for food trucks. There will be live outdoor music at The Brig as well.”

“Dear PoPville,
I have been having a problem the last couple of months at the Yards Harris Teeter, and I’m wondering if its exclusive to this HT or if others have had a similar experience at either this location or at any others. When shopping there have been a few times that I bought a specific brand or more of something that I needed because it was either on sale or BOGO (buy one get one) via my VIC card. I use the self check outs and at first I thought I was paranoid or misunderstood the sales signs and wrote it off, but the last 3 times I have noticed that SOME sale prices were reflected when I rang them up, and others weren’t. Those three times I have pointed it out to the clerk monitoring the self check out and they have helped me resolve the issue by typing a code into the computer…. but they didn’t seem surprised and acted like it happens all the time and didn’t apologize or anything.
I know it might seem like small amounts, but they add up, in the last visit alone I would have paid $15 more than I should have. I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience, and (if nothing else) alerting folks to pay attention to the prices you are paying vs what was advertised. The real confusing aspect for me has been that some of the the items will reflect sale prices when rung up, and others (in the same transaction) do not.”

“Just one year after Bardo Brewpub resumed brewing operations following a fifteen year hiatus, the NE DC brewery announced plans to open a two acre, multi use, riverfront location with an on site brewery, next to Nationals stadium.
Bardo is seeking to raise some of the funds needed thru an indiegogo campaign. With a twist. The brewery is offering groupon-style discounts on beer at the new location. “Our Living Social and Groupon promotions have been huge successes,” stated Bardo Brewpub’s Andrew Stewart, “we thought we would try it on our own via this fundraising platform”. “We have enough cash to do a bare bones build out”, added Bardo head man, Bill Stewart, “but the last time we opened before the permanent bathrooms were built and it was not well received.”

Initial plans call for riverfront seating, a sculpture garden, outdoor films over the water, DC’s largest dog park, an on site bicycle shop designed to interface with the location on the metropolitan branch trail, and a large outdoor space designated for activation by the local community in the form of farmers markets, swap meets and assorted community events.
