“Any of you who live in the Chevy Chase/Tenley area please, please be on the lookout for our dog. His name is Frank and he is approximately 8 years old. He is a terrier mix and is very affectionate. He also has incredible wanderlust. He is wearing a red Puppia harness and his tags still have my South Dakota address. He got loose from 45th and Western at approximately 6:00pm.

I know this is a long, long reach but you never know. He was a little stray that we found in a storm seven years ago and we miss him already. He does have tags and he is microchipped.”

Update: Found!

“Dear PoPville,

The 100-year-old home at 3823 Morrison Street, NW has been demolished in defiance of more than 200 area residents who sought to have the Arts & Crafts house restored or sold to someone who would. This demolition is sparking a renewed effort to obtain a historic district for Chevy Chase, DC.

In addition, we learned yesterday that developer Robert Holman may have possibly sold the property (but perhaps not yet gone to settlement) to another developer. So it’s unclear what exactly will be built on the site.

See below for an open letter with more details.

“Check it out…it’s a workshed and office detached from the main house. What’s most fascinating is the endbeams projecting out. All four were faces. The entire place has a very “Pacific Northwest” feel to it. Located in Chevy Chase”

A couple weeks ago we learned that a Sri Lankan and South Indian restaurant, Banana Leaf, was coming to the former the former Clover Market space in Chevy Chase. At that time readers wondered if it was the same place from New York City – the owner confirms it is:

“yes its the branch of banana leaf ,new york which is opening soon in DC”

You can see their menu here.

A recent liquor license placard posted out front says:

Inner city diner serving American and diner food, Sidewalk Café Indoor seats 28, Sidewalk Café Outdoor 28–Sidewalk Café Total 56 seats. Total Occupancy Load 99.”

Could be the first time anything in Chevy Chase has been referred to as “Inner city”…

We judged American City Diner back in 2011.

At long last a replacement for the former Clover Market space which closed back in 2012. Coming soon is Banana Leaf – Sri Lankan & South Indian Cuisine. Ed. Note: Not to be confused with Dupont Circle’s Banana Leaves.

I also like how the sign specifies – “Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian”:

It’s located across the street from Politics and Prose and next door to Jake’s American Grille:
