From a press release:

“On the heels of a successful launch into the market earlier this month [Ed. Note: in Georgetown Wisconsin and N Street, NW], Foxtrot is opening its second location in Washington, DC in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood at 650 Massachusetts Ave. NW.

Foxtrot’s shelves are stocked with items by some of the DC region’s favorite brands and artisans, including prepared meals by local chef Erik Bruner Yang and goods from beloved brands like Gordy’s Pickles, Veggie Confetti, Mason Dixie and Pineapple Collaborative, to name a few. Foxtrot is also the newest neighborhood watering hole for coffee with friends, made with beans from local roaster Vigilante Coffee, or happy hour with coworkers which can be enjoyed on the store’s patio. Guests can pick out a bottle of wine from the over 200 bottles featured in store, all hand selected by Foxtrot’s sommelier Dylan Melvin, that range from everyday bottles (more than half are priced affordably at under $25) to special occasion and experimental wines.

Foxtrot Market will be celebrating the grand opening of its Mount Vernon Triangle sore with activations and local giveaways throughout opening week: (more…)

2nd/3rd Mass. and H Street, NW

Thanks to Dr. Dion for asking about the famed “Mystery Silo” in the 200 block of H Street, NW. We last broached the subject back in August 2019.

We’ve previously learned that this is a ventilation shaft for the 395 highway tunnel below. The artist responsible for the awesome mural, Val E. Lewton, passed away in 2015.

Others have commented that: “It’s been known unofficially for years as the Nixon Memorial.”

Wisconsin and N Street, NW

From an email:

“Today, doors are open to its Georgetown store (1267 Wisconsin Avenue NW), with a forthcoming store opening in Mount Vernon Triangle (650 Massachusetts Avenue NW) on March 22. DC is Foxtrot‘s first East Coast market, and will bring the total to 12 stores nationwide (and counting, quickly)! (more…)

From MPD:

“At approximately 2353 hours last night, a complainant reported to MPD units that the driver of an unknown black sedan fired a gunshot at their vehicle while they were traveling south in the 3rd Street Tunnel at Massachusetts Ave NW. The complainant was not injured, but their vehicle was stuck by a single bullet. The complainant believes this may be related to the other vehicle being offended by their driving.

If anyone was in the area or has any information about this event, please contact the First District Detective’s Office at 202-299-2025.”

9th and T Street, NW

Thanks to Kristin for sending earlier this afternoon: “FYI- dogs are being electrocuted by a pepco manhole on 9th and T St. Please avoid walking over manholes with your dogs during these snowy/icy/salty conditions. Last night, a dog was shocked while walking on it and was in an almost paralyzed state for a few minutes. We put a sign over it and called 311. Firefighters are here now roping off the area.”
