“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to share a moment of joy from Friday night. After a lovely evening on Mt. Pleasant St. that started with happy hour at OKPB and turned into dinner at Martha Dear, I happened upon a screening of Las Muertes Más Bellas del Mundo (The Most Beautiful Deaths in the World) in Lamont Plaza — a documentary about the Salvadoran diaspora in DC. Thanks to P. for sending above Monday around 5:30pm in Logan Circle.

Dozens of people came out on barely an hour’s notice and there was music and we were all passing information and encouragement and plans on how to support the community and each other. (While cop cars did slow circles around the plaza and eventually parked right next us.)

Next, we’ll aim for an art session in front of Bancroft and Sacred Heart schools. I can’t imagine how scared and scarred so many kids are right now.”

Chelsea also shares with us: “ICE terrorized my neighborhood of Mt Pleasant today so we reclaimed the plaza — our community living room — with joy and love and messages of resilience. Thank you to everyone who turned out, let’s do it again!! These few photos do not do it justice” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if the fine people of PoPville can help me out, I donked up pretty good with my partner about two months ago. Donated her high school copy of The Handmaid’s Tale to one of the little libraries in Mount Pleasant – any chance one of your readers reading this found and read it?? Her initials are JW and I’d be happy to replace her copy with one from Lost City Books ;-)”

If you have it please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.
