Around 9:15pm last night a reader reported:

“Just heard 8 gunshots in the North Michigan Park neighborhood in NE. (Close to the fort totten metro)”

From MPD:

“Tonight at approximately 9:00 pm, the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 5000 block of 6th Place, Northeast, for the sounds of gunshot and a report of property damage in the 600 block of Nicholson Street, Northeast. Once at both locations, crime scenes were discovered. At this time there are no reported injuries.

If you have any information regarding this incident please contact the Metropolitan Police at 202-727-9099.”

VDJance writes around 7:15pm:

“SUV (probably going wrong direction onto Gallatin from North Cap), hit a parked car and flipped on its side…”

DCFD reported: “Shortly after 7 PM, #DCsBravest responded to a 2 vehicle crash at North Capitol & Gallatin Sts. NW with 1 vehicle on its side. We stabilized the vehicle & extricated 1 trapped victim, who was transported to an area trauma center with serious, non-life threatening injuries.”

The red escalator handrails at Fort Totten station were installed a while ago and I read (I think on metro’s website) that they were a test to see if they worked. If so, they would be installed throughout the system. To date these are the only ones that I’ve seen. Anyone know what’s going on with them?”

This will mark the first 24 Hour Fitness location in D.C. and sixth 24 Hour Fitness club in the Metro region, expanding on its successful footprint across Maryland and Northern Virginia. From the full press release issued Monday:

“The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation (Cafritz Foundation), developers of the Fort Totten mixed-use development project Art Place, today announced that the lease has been executed for an approximately 25,000 square-foot ALDI store at Art Place at Fort Totten. Located on the corner of South Dakota Avenue and Kennedy Street, this will be the largest ALDI DC location and the second ALDI in the city, the first being in the H Street Corridor. (more…)

“Earlier tonight [Friday], an adult male and an adult female were injured in a shooting that is believed to have taken place in the area around the 5000 block of 6th Place, NE. The both victims received non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Fourth District are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 202.727.9099 or text 50411.”
