Freshii is located at 2001 M St. NW. They say:

“Through our vision of Fresh Food, Custom Built, Fast, Freshii is focused on becoming the most convenient choice for healthy and fresh meals and snacks served quickly in a cool, clean, and environmentally sustainable setting for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between.”

You can build menu items here with a cool nutrition counter. I think this location is relatively new…anyone check them out yet?

I finally got to check out the newly installed sculptures on New York Ave between 12th and 13th Streets, NW (outside the Women’s Museum). I think they are fantastic. I’m told one more is being installed today, stay tuned for that one.

What do you think of these – thumbs up or down? Have a favorite?

Lots more photos after the jump. (more…)

Pret a Manger is set to open up at the corner of 11th and F Streets, NW relatively soon (Web site says mid-May). You can see their menu here. I’m wondering how this place compares to other sandwich shops like Au Bon Pain etc. Anyone every been to the 18th and Eye location (or one of the NYC locations)?

Roti Mediterranean Grill just opened up at 1747 Pennsylvania Ave, NW. You can see their menus here. From their twitter feed:

“First day in DC today. Woo Hoo! Wednesday in DC is Free Lunch Day with donations for DC Central Kitchen. 11a-2p.”

This is a very cool way to enter the DC lunch scene.

Zentan is located at 1155 14th Street, NW. Their Web site says:

“Famed Chef Susur Lee introduces DC diners to his inventive global Asian cuisine with ZENTAN, located in Donovan House – a Thompson Hotel. Chef Lee’s culinary creations include his imaginative standouts – the Singapore Slaw with salted plum dressing, Szechwan Style Half Duck with djan lotus crepes, and also a wide selection of Asian crudos, sushi, and sashimi. You can see their menu here.

Any fans? Anyone check out the rooftop pool bar?

Mio is located at 1110 Vermont Avenue, NW. Their Web site says:

“Since opening in 2007, a number of great chefs drove Mio towards avant garde, four-star dining, leading to our maturation as a showcase for refined Urban Latin American cuisine. Signature dishes such as Bacalaito Coated Shrimp Salad or Oxtail Mofongo represent our open hearted attitude to delivering a fun experience with care and attention to unpretentious refinement. Mio’s recognized internal architecture is commented for its accessible elegance and clean lines and spacial freshness. The restaurant’s vibrant bar also showcases traditional as well as urban Latin American mixes and specialty cocktails such as the sweet/piquant rum Spicy Passion, and quite possibly the best Mojito in Washington, DC. The wine list is worldly and extensive, each wine carefully tasted by our staff familiar with our menu. The great beverage line ups partner with innovative happy hours specials and a compelling bar menu.”

The Craigslist ad says:

“SPACIOUS STUDIO APARTMENTS IN THE HEART OF THE CITY!”

Does $1095 sound reasonable for a studio at this location? In comparison I’d like to show one more studio that I found.

This one is located at Garfield Street at Cathedral Avenue, NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“Spacious light-filled L-shaped studio apartment with separate entrance in family home for rent in Wesley Heights. Features include: a large living area with flat-screen television and multi-channel cable access; dining area with table and chairs; large bathroom with walk-in shower; efficiency kitchen; and new washer/dryer. Near the N2, N4, and D2 Metrobuses. Free parking if you have a car. Great neighborhood for runners, bikers, and long Sunday walks in the woods. Shopping within walking distance. Rent: $1200 including utilities (gas, electric, water, cable.) Some furnishings may be available if needed.”

Either of these sound good?

I enjoyed reading yesterday’s judging of the recently opened Churckey/Birch & Barley spots on 14th. Another recently opened spot I’m curious about is Againn which we first heard about back in Sept. ’09. Againn is located at 1099 New York Ave, NW. Their Web site says:

“A contemporary British Isles Bistro. A place to gather – your thoughts or with friends – and enjoy traditional British Isles pub cuisine presented in modern ware. Extensive single-malt Scotch, whisky, and beer selections, as well as fine wines, hand-crafted cocktails, and personal scotch lockers.”

You can see their menus here.
