From DCPL:

“In celebration of Black Music Month, Go-Go on the Rooftop returns to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. These free Sunday concerts will feature a lineup of established and upcoming Go-Go musicians.

Founded in 2012, the Go-Go Archive was established by the DC Public Library to collect, preserve, and provide access to materials documenting Go-Go music, Washington, D.C.’s official sound. It includes photographs, books, recordings, and other ephemera; oral history interviews and research materials; and archived tweets from the #dontmutedc movement. The archive activates the collection through educational initiatives and cultural events. Each concert will be recorded and added to the Go-Go Archive, furthering its mission to preserve and promote Go-Go music.

Ed. Note: I know the photo’s not great and I may or may not have been drinking but you can see him carrying the shoes in his right hand in the photo above. You can read about him and who else was invited to the state dinner here. And a photo of him (shod) with his date arriving at the White House here.
