I know we’ve spoken about the Kennedy Warren, located at 3133 Connecticut Ave, NW in Cleveland Park, before but it seems like everytime I pass it, I notice another cool detail. I wonder if the elephants were incorporated because of the nearby zoo or another reason?

While WBJ had the very early word back in Nov. the Washington Post now shares more details of this huge Cleveland Park news:

Medium Rare, says its creator, Mark Bucher, is expected to open as early as next month at 3500 Connecticut Ave. NW (formerly Yanni’s Greek Taverna). There will be a single feature — steak frites — on the menu, although a meatless entrée will be available for vegetarians.

“The only question you’ll be asked when you come in is ‘How do you like your steak cooked? ‘” says Bucher, who, as the guy behind the popular burger chain BGR, knows a thing or two about what the masses like.

This should lessen the sting of National Shoe Rebuilders closing and Yanni’s (3500 Connecticut Ave, NW) I’ll still miss ya but this sounds pretty awesome.

I’m not sure this’ll be of too much interest for those living in other neighborhoods but as a former Cleveland Parker I was shocked to see that National Shoe Rebuilders had closed at 3510 Connecticut Ave NW. This was a legendary shop that seemingly had been here for years. I’m not as devastated as I was when I saw that Yanni’s had closed nearby but this is still a bit of a shock to the system. I’ll be very curious to see who goes into the spot.

This home is located at 3426 Macomb St, NW:

This has def. been a house of the day before in the past so I was excited to get a look inside. This 2 bed/3.5 bath is yours for $1,175,000. Do you think a 2 bedroom will be tough to sell in this neighborhood?

Ed. Note: If you’re looking to rent a place out and are curious what is a realistic price send an email with ‘what’s a fair price’ in the title to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com. We can also do this for people selling their homes if interested.

The rental is located at 3616 Connecticut Ave. NW:

Palena recently reopened at 3529 Connecticut Avenue, NW after expanding into the old Magruder’s grocery space next door. You can see their menus here. The space looks great and stay tuned for the Market to open in a few more weeks.

We last judged Palena back in Dec. ’08.

Back in mid Oct. we learned that Ardeo and Bardeo would be renovated and combined into one new space at 3311 Connecticut Ave, NW in Cleveland Park. Well this has to be one of the quickest intense renovations I’ve ever seen. It was completed in three weeks and looks incredible. They reopened a week ago but I checked them out over the weekend. With the wall dividing the former spaces torn down the space has a completely new feel. There is an enormous bar in the middle and a new decor. As always I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Lots more photos of the interior plus the menu after the jump. (more…)

Ripple located at 3417 Connecticut Ave, NW will be expanding into the vacated Foot Solutions space next door according to a liquor license application. It says:

“LICENSEE REQUESTS EXPANSION OF PREMISE INTO CONTIGUOUS INTERIOR SPACE INCREASING THE SEATING CAPACITY FROM 58 SEATS TO 122 SEATS”

Seems to be a trend in Cleveland Park. Palena is expanding into the old Magruders just up the block and in the same strip Ardeo and Bardeo are combining spaces.
