508 H St, NE will remain open
On Friday when we spoke about H Street and gentrification there were fears that Metro Mutts could be in trouble when Petco arrives. Thanks to a reader for passing on the update:
“After several years of operating retail out of two Capitol Hill locations, we have decided to put our full retail energy and concentration into just one brick & mortar location. Our choice of the H Street shop was primarily driven by the larger footprint, our long-standing relationship with the neighborhood (the owners have lived off H Street since before MM was opened), and the nearby proximity to our close friends & business partners Spot On Training . With this in mind, we are closing our SE location at 407 8th St SE when the lease comes up for renewal in June.
Our flagship store at 508 H St NE remains open and there are NO plans to close or back down in any way, as a result of Petco’s planned arrival in the neighborhood this summer. If you hear rumors to the contrary, we hope you will help spread the word that Metro Mutts NE is here to stay for as long as our loyal customers will support us!
