Mid Century Modern in Bloomingdale.

Ed. Note: “Lieutenant Wright made a typo when posting on the list serve. The incident occurred in the rear of the 200 block of V Street, NW.”
An update from a reader:
“This sounds exactly what happened at that time in Bloomingdale today. I witnessed it from inside my house on Crispus Atticus Park. It was in the alley on the park between U and V St. I heard a gun shot fired — then walked to back of house and saw 3 construction workers struggling with the suspect. I couldn’t see the gun at first but heard a couple more rounds go off during the struggle. It was extremely scary. Another construction worked joined the struggle — they wrestled the gun away from the suspect and pinned him to the ground.
I was on phone with 911 during the struggle and cops showed up with in about 2-3 minutes. I took the attached picture of EMS taking away the suspect who apparently was injured during the struggle.
These construction workers were VERY brave to take on this guy.”
From MPD:
“At approximately 1130 hours Fifth District received a call for sounds of gunshot in the rear 200 block of V street NW. When the officer arrived several males were holding the suspect on the ground. It was reported that the suspect approached the victim and attempted to rob him. The suspect produced a revolver and the victim grabbed the weapon and as a result the revolver was fired three times one round struck the victim on the left check. The suspect was apprehended by a few men who were working on a vacant house. The weapon was recovered on the scene.”

Happy B-day to the fine folks at Pub & The People:

“Dear PoPville,
The Bike House has been helping people fix their bikes at the Bloomingdale Farmers Market for the past four years. While we don’t have a full shop’s worth of tools, we have enough supplies to do basic repairs, lube chains, put air in tires, and generally point people in the right direction. The Bike House is an all-volunteer operation that relies on support from the community to exist. We had been storing our tools, repair stand, and tent nearby the 1st and R market, but unfortunately, that arrangement no longer works. In order to continue our Bloomingdale operation, we need a place to put our stuff.
The Bike House is looking for somewhere near 1st and R, NW to store a medium-sized rubbermaid bin of supplies, a repair stand, and a pump. All told about 10 square feet of stuff. Your storage space doesn’t have to be fancy, just safe and dry and somewhere accessible where volunteers could come grab it Sunday mornings.
Let us know if you think you can help. The good karma you get will mean you never get a flat tire again.
We can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks.”

Following in the footsteps of Boundary Stone? The liquor license placard out front of Showtime says:

Cool.

“Dear PoPville,
I saw this posting for a basement rental in Bloomindale [Adams St NW at 2nd St NW] and I was curious to get readers perspectives on it.

Our brand new, fully renovated walk-out basement on the border of LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale will be perfect for someone who loves light, a big open feel, and close access to all the activity on Georgia Ave, U St, North Capitol and 1st St! Large south-facing windows let in direct sun all day long, to compliment full-height ceilings, exposed brick, and full-sized entry/exit doorways. The unit has a contemporary styling, tile floors, and all brand-new stainless appliances. It has in-unit laundry (washer/dryer), Elfa storage solutions in the closet, and is completely closed off from the upstairs–complete privacy! Although there is plenty of street parking, off-street parking is negotiable. We are asking $2,300/month.
The place looks pretty sweet but I was a little surprised to see how much it was renting for. Has bloomingdale come this far?”
Ed. Note: I think it depends on how much light the unit gets. And obviously this one is totally renovated too. So what do you guys think is $2300/mo reasonable for this one?
