Thanks to all who sent emails and tweets about the new tenant, T-Mobile, coming to the long vacant retail space in between the recently closed Mixtec and McDonald’s in Adams Morgan.

“We wanted to invite you to the D.C.-area tasting of “No Middle Ground”—the coffee IPA created by coffee roaster Counter Culture Coffee and All About Beer Magazine in collaboration with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.—on Thursday, August 28th, from 6-8pm, at Counter Culture’s Washington, D.C., Training Center (1840 Columbia Road NW, Suite 203). This limited-edition coffee IPA, made with a cold-brewed washed Ethiopian coffee from Counter Culture and an experimental hop known as “291,” is only available on tap at these tasting events in Counter Culture’s eight regional training centers along the East Coast.
Thursday’s tasting, open to the public with free reservation through Eventbrite, will be a relaxed evening of sampling and mingling with your D.C. Counter Culture Coffee and Sierra Nevada reps. Both hot and iced coffees from Counter Culture and light hors d’oeuvres will also be served.”

“Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, which was founded 40 years ago as one of the first artisan, stone-baked pizzerias in the country, is rolling back their prices to 1974.
To mark their anniversary on August 20th, for one day only, Mellow Mushroom will be re-introducing selections from their original menu including a small cheese pizza for $2.50. All coca-cola products will be 30 cents with beer, including Budweiser, Michelob or Pabst Blue Ribbon, sold for 75 cents per drink.”

“Refresh in progress! We hope to have the Diner reopened by mid-next week. Stay tuned for more details and we thank everyone for their support, and we look forward to feeding DC 24/7 again soon.”

Sweet Themez opened up in the original Crooked Beats location back in 2011. A reader says they closed their Adams Morgan retail spot last week.
Update from the owner:
“We had some water damage to our unit that the owner refused to fix. Therefore, we are renting a commercial kitchen nearby and are offering free delivery to our customers.”

Sad, sad news via a commenter in this morning’s rant/revel from WTOP:
“But pretty soon, Romo will have a whole new view on life — quite literally. This fall, Bacon and Scourby will move out of their Adams Morgan apartment to a bigger space in “the burbs” — Arlington.”
