Thanks to a reader for sending. I didn’t even know Carriage House has closed! But this has the potential to be a very nice replacement – Johnny Pistolas’ website says:

“Johnny Pistolas is a Mexican Taqueria Bar serving up delicous LA Style Tacos, Signature Craft Cocktails in a fun and inviting atmosphere.”

1817 Columbia Rd, NW

1817 Columbia Road has been the home Evolve, Marrakech Lounge, and briefly Mudbugz and back in late June we found out Taan had also closed.  We learned the space  would be taken over by the folks from Cashion’s and called Pop’s Sea Bar. Their facebook page says:

“It’s official… we’ll be open to the public on Sept. 4th! Casual, boardwalk-inspired seafood bar and restaurant. Eat. Play. Imbibe.”

And they’ve also posted their menu:

EaterDC reports:

“Pop’s will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, with plans for a happy hour menu to come. The restaurant will be open Sunday-Thursday 12 p.m. to midnight. And, Friday and Saturday 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.”

Well that was fast. I didn’t even realized Z Kabob had opened in the former Snap space but it’s already been emptied out:

“Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, which was founded 40 years ago as one of the first artisan, stone-baked pizzerias in the country, is rolling back their prices to 1974.

To mark their anniversary on August 20th, for one day only, Mellow Mushroom will be re-introducing selections from their original menu including a small cheese pizza for $2.50. All coca-cola products will be 30 cents with beer, including Budweiser, Michelob or Pabst Blue Ribbon, sold for 75 cents per drink.”
