“Ivy and Coney, the preferred dive bar of 4 out of 5 shickers, is elated to celebrate Hanukkah with all of you again! Beginning Friday, December 1st through the end of the month, the Manischewitz shall flow, the dreidels shall spin, and fun will be had by most. The really fun part with fire gets going the evening of the 7th and continues on every night until the 14th. Yes, there will be presents.

As always, we’ll be donating all proceeds from the sale of kosher wine to HIAS for their work helping refugees across the globe. We hope everyone will join us in throwing down some serious gelt to support this vital cause.

To properly honor the least important holiday on the calendar, one where you both get to play with fire and drink dubiously colored wine, we’ve got delicious latkes, sufgani-shots (jelly donuts in shot form), and Manischewitz. Latkes, arguably the most important culinary creation since unleavened bread, will feature prominently as a reminder of the oil used to light the menorah, and the fact that fried foods truly are the tastiest. Each night we will be lighting the Hanukiyah at approximately 7:00 PM (December 7th through December 14th) and invite our guests to participate. Who knows, you may even find a present in your hands at the end of the night.

“Metro is honoring veterans this week with live music in stations and a patriotic train and bus serving customers throughout the region.

On Thursday, November 9, the Eastern High School Blue & White Marching Machine will perform live music at Smithsonian (National Mall entrance) and Pentagon stations from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The 50-student band will be traveling via Metro to perform patriotic music for customers at the stations. “This year’s Downtown Holiday Market, presented by DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID and Diverse Markets Management, returns for its 19th year starting Friday, November 17th through Saturday, December 23rd. Once again, the market will be taking two entire blocks of F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets NW. The entrance will be located on the sidewalk outside the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This year, visitors can enjoy a new line up of entertainment, over 70 exhibitors, food vendors and festive decor and lights throughout the season.

Admission to the Downtown Holiday Market is free and open to the public with daily hours from 12:00PM to 8:00PM. (more…)
