“Metro’s holiday service schedule, live music, and patriotic trains and buses for Veterans Day”

From WMATA:

“Metro is honoring veterans this week with live music in stations and a patriotic train and bus serving customers throughout the region.

On Thursday, November 9, the Eastern High School Blue & White Marching Machine will perform live music at Smithsonian (National Mall entrance) and Pentagon stations from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The 50-student band will be traveling via Metro to perform patriotic music for customers at the stations.

Through the end of November, customers can also find a special wrapped train and bus honoring those who served our country. The red design features an American flag motif and the message: “Proud to serve those who served our country” and “Honoring Veterans Day.” Metro’s special train and bus can be tracked at wmata.com/live by selecting the “Special Edition” tab. They will only appear on the tracker when the vehicles are in service.

Service information for Friday, November 10

On Friday, November 10, Metrorail will be operating from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. with normal weekend frequencies.

Metrobus will operate on a Saturday Supplemental schedule. All buses that normally run on Saturday will operate in addition to selected routes. Check timetables or use Metro’s trip planner at wmata.com for schedules to travel on the observed holiday.

Saturday and Sunday: Construction impacting Blue, Silver, and Red lines

Customers are reminded that on the Blue and Silver lines, aerial structure repairs near Stadium-Armory will continue this weekend, with free local and express shuttle buses replacing trains between Stadium-Armory and Addison Rd. on Saturday and Sunday. Blue Line trains will run every 12 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes during the evening from Franconia-Springfield to Stadium-Armory and Addison Rd to Downtown Largo. Silver Line trains will run between Stadium-Armory and Ashburn only, and will operate every 12 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes during the evening.  Orange Line service will operate normally.

On the Red Line, trains will single track between Medical Center and Grosvenor while crews perform rail renewal and joint elimination to provide customers with a smoother ride. Trains will run every 8 minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont, and every 16 minutes between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove.”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
